Allright I am in the mood for building a new PC for myself and I thought I might have some ideas and help from other people.

    Here are the rules:
    -------------------------------------------------
    Budget: $800

    A new case is needed:
    1. Must have room for 2 or more hard drives
    2. Must have room for 3 or more fans
    3. Must have room for 2 CD or DVD drives

    A new mobo is needed:
    1. What ever can be budgeted

    A new processor is needed:
    1. What ever can be budgeted

    RAM:
    1. What ever can be budgeted

    Hard Drive:
    1. What ever can be budgeted

    -------------------------------------------------

    Notes:
*I don't need a new video card. But if you can budget one into the costs then by all means go ahead.
*No need to worry about monitors, a mouse, speakers, keyboards, and you dont need to worry about and Expansion Cards.
*Try to make this PC last...Such as it will beable to play alot of the games now and more to come with high gfx. (Doom 3, Counter Strike Source, ect...)
*Please post links to the items that are used...So other people can look at the parts and buy them possibly for there budget PC

This just isn't going to happen with a $500 budget.

    Case: Antec Solution SLK3000-B $49

Will only fit 2 fans, but 2x12cm plus whatever's in the PSU is far more than adequate...

    Mobo: ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 $70
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157081

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego $213
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103539

    Memory: CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR400 $77
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145480

    HDD: Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6V200E0 200GB SATAII $91
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144012

    Total: $472

With some cheaper memory and a smaller IDE HDD, you *might* be able to squeeze in a GF6600GT, for roughly $120.

Dunno what you're smoking, but it must be some good stuff. I've been using Maxtors for over 10 years and have had dozens of their drives. Never a single failure, or even any real problems out of them.
