Chieftain
A confession: I am older than dirt and I have been a Civ Fanatic since Civ1. It has been my experience that each and every new Civ release has been an improvement over the one it replaced. It is disheartening to hear all the negative spam from people over a game (Civ5) that they have not even played.
For my part, I shall remain confident in my faith that Civ 5 will follow suit and give me many hours of enjoyment as all the other Civ releases have. I will remain assured that the brilliant community of modders will make further additions to enhance my already satisfactory gaming enjoyment. I will not be looking for ways or reasons to cancel my preorder. The money I spend on Civ is not enough to worry about when compared to the hours of enjoyment returned.
I have a friend I've known for 40 years and lives a good distance away. Some of our most cherished memories over a lifetime of friendship has been those nights we play Civ 4 together. We always ally against the computer and try to create some sort of themed scenerio for every new game we begin. His health has taken a turn for the worse lately but I do hope for the best. We are both looking forward to Civ 5 with great enthusiasm.
With Civ, there is so much more to consider than just dollars or pounds. There is community and life teeming all around the core game itself. And as for me...I will still look forward to the excitement I feel exploring an unknown continent...or seeing the first Spanish ship enter my harbor...or hearing the hostile sound of native drums in the distance.
