I've noticed that many people out there want to spice up their Civ by adding Cruise missiles to
AEGIS Cruisers. I agree, but there is a teeny weeny problem. Its this - you spend dozens of
turns sailing across the world, fire off 2 or 3 (some people want as many as 6) cruise missiles,
then have to sail all the way home again in order to reload. Realistic, maybe. Fun, naaa!
But, "I have a cunning plan...". It's this --- instead of going through all the hassel of
adding missiles to ships, why not simply increase the AEGIS Cruiser's bombardment to
16, the range to 4(or 6), and the firing rate to 3. In other words, make the AEGIS Cruiser have
the same bombardment factors as a Cruise missile!
You now have AEGIS Crusiers which are using their bomardment factor to simulate unlimited
numbers of Cruise missiles, which can't be intercepted, and realisticaly outrange
battleships! Ok, they still can't sink a battleship, but they can badly damage them, making
it easier to finish them off with surface combat.
I like this idea because in my mod (everybody seems to have a mod these days and I didn't
want to be left out!), I have battleships becoming obsolete after AEGIS Cruisers come into play.
After all, how many battleships have been built since WWII?
Any thoughts gents......?
