I haven't seen a Gandhi map in a while so I thought I would share this one.

The start:

About the map:
Spoiler :
A decent capital for Gandhi with both stone and marble nearby and peaceful neighbors.

The downside is
Spoiler :
There is no commerce in the capital without fishing and it is awkward trying to fit fishing into your tech path.

T42 : game over (kinda) :
Spoiler :

This is a really funny start. I'm sure if I played the openning 5 times, I'd play it different each time.

I couldn't resist going Fishing first this time, even though Agri and AH give the better yields.
Went Pottery next, very debattable when weighted against BW and AH (again). Pottery was kinda relevant to my 2nd spot.

I might give it another go in a few days. The Oracle is an obvious target for me. But... finding a nice tech path is hard, hard, hard.
Fishing first delayed AH forever. BW is very appealing. So is Sailing. Techs need be selected.
What are the fittest ? Getting a strat resource with the 2nd tech would be best, I suppose, but that doesn't solve the AH vs BW issue. BW is more flexible but leaves Gandhi in a food poor, commerce poor position. Aaaaah !

Spoiler :

Haha barb rushed. I'm been in that spot plenty of times. In my game though I didn't have any problems with barbs whatsoever. I was able to fogbust the west and hold off the south with a few warriors.

And yeah like I said this opening is a bit awkward. If you go ag>BW then your tech rate will lag, if you go fishing first, then chances are you'll want BW next so you'll be food poor for a bit and get off to a slow start. And if you try anything else then you will end up wasting too many worker turns. But it is a fun map nonetheless and you should give it another shot.

To 700 ad:
Spoiler :

Ok so the tech path I did was agriculture>BW>wheel>fishing>masonry>AH>writing>aesthetics. My economy was poor in the beginning due to lack of commerce so tech was slow for a while. I settled the stone spot first then the northern floodplains city to block off cyrus. I decided to go for the mids to catch up in tech. Mids were built in 1200bc in my capital. I also used a great engineer to rush out the great library since i didn't have the marble hooked up yet. I went up the music path for the artist, then I went for CS. I did the usual golden age bulb fest and bulbed philo, education(1x), and lib. I was also able to pump out a merchant for some upgrading later on. As of 700ad, I'm a few turns from winning lib and I'm starting to build some war elephants to upgrade to cuirs once I trade for some horses. I'm thinking Cyrus is the obvious target. His cities are close by and he is in first place right now plus he has a couple wonders that could be useful.

I will :) Having researched neither AH nor BW, I don't feel spoiled about the map.
I doubt I'd go Agri->BW but... who knows ? Certainly not me...
Agri->AH->Wheel->Fishing has something going for it. Moving the cap to the south frees one unforested forest so the worker can mine w/o BW. I think that's enough for this tech path to "work". Didn't check, though.

Playing with BUFFY till 1AD.
First game after a long time :D

Spoiler :
Mixed specialists and cottages. Noticed noone got GLH and Mids and attempted to fail them, but I didn't. Failed GLib; forgot to switch to 100% research and lost it by single turn. Failed Parthenon, Failed ToA, SoZ. Nice money.
Techs: Agri-Bw-fishing IIRC

Was raped by barb galleys a bit, I don't like the way they spawn.

Situation 1AD:

@Shakabrade
Spoiler :
17 city Persia? Good luck :)
I have one question, why not settle flood plains of vijay in the first ring? They currently are in the 2 ring and you could lose them to Persia from a culture battle. Are you worried at all about that?

Thanks PeteJ for the fun map. :)

@BiC
I lost to barbs really early too, but then just went to 4000BC and started again. I'd love to see your game.

@whats a navy

Spoiler :
Had the same dilemma over losing flood plains, but eventually, I decided for this one because Vija was predestined to be more important city. I also chopped monument ASAP so I get border pop quicklyand with fast library in there and even an academy, all worries were gone. It was important to get 3rd culture ring (100 culture in city) quickly, so I get 20 hidden culture bonus in my BFC. I played this one till 1560AD and didn't lose single tile in Vijanangara's bfc.
Yeah, 17 city really smells like runaway AI, but I still have some chance.

Vassalized Lincoln and Elizabeth, thought about attacking Cyrus, but with so many cities and vassals. Nah. No way. If Cyrus had 12 cities, this game would've already been won, but he is too fast now. I've made defensive pact with him and can try space race in peace now. Some espionage will probably be required.

Why don't you shadow this, whats a navy? The more, the merrier :D

Save attached requires BUFFY mod.

Spoiler :

Those dates for the Mids and TGH are really nice. I wish it could happen in all games, but there's a pesky to one away too early.

Great comeback M.Beardfistoid. Guess the spleen's done. Time for action and AI beating:)

Thanks Tachy :D
As I already mentioned, I didn't think I'd get those Mids, GLH, in my experience, often go late on Pangaea, so I did think it was possible. However, I was really lucky with both and this cannot be reliable strategy.

Yeah, I am eager to play. Almost a month off worked out pretty well and fun and joy and concentration are here again. However, how much will I be able to play largely depends on my little .

And I played your game a bit and did an axe rush on Pacal. It worked surprisingly well. However, I have accidentaly overwritten the save with this game. I am really not good at multigaming. When I finish with Gandhi, Shaka is next.

Given up on this start. Not in my league.
I insisted on trying to get the Oracle while not losing Bombay and would fail either one of those. Prolly misread the map.

:)

1898AD Space Race win

Spoiler :
So my almost runaway cyrus got pretty fed. and by the end of the game he had 32 cities. I had 18 cities but have liberated New York to Lincoln so he could help me tech to space, and have gifted Madras to Cyrus with 12 spies with +50% stationary bonus in it so I could steal techs, sabotage SS parts if needed and to switch him back into Hinduism cause I wanted him to love me so he would sign defensive pact over and over (DP lasts 10 turns, don't ever forget that) and not kill me while I race to the space. I had to switch my vassals from FR to Hindu over and over, because AI loves you as much as it is average attitude to you and your vassals (don't ever forget that too:)).
Built all the espionage buildings, used Elizabeth and Lincoln to double my research and, surprisingly, maintained tech parity (especially when moron cyrus went advanced flight path). At some point, Elizabeth went full culture and became scientifically useless, despite she had no chance of winning (I have captured London).

Couple of screenies with trojan horse (Madras) and minor demo of stealing last tech for my space ship:
