Just as the title suggests ^_^ The game that I'm about to play is a huge Disaster just waiting to happen. Im still relatively new to Civ and I have never played a game higher than normal difficuly, neither have I played a game with the One City Challenge but all of this is about to change today ^_^

I shall be playing as Japan, on Deity with the Once City challenge option in the hopes of actually winning (Or not being so utterly destroyed).

Game Settings:

Civilization: Japan
Difficulty: Deity
Map: Continents
Victory Types: Domination
Resources: Legendary Start
Special Rules: Once City Challenge

So thats the setup ^^ At no point during the game will I reload a save to play something I messed up, I personally consider that cheating and prefer to have to fix my mistakes myself.

To start off, Here is my start location, Updates will be every 50 turns or in the event something important happens, Hope you all enjoy ^^

Turn 0: Im quite happy with the start area ^^ Plenty of luxry resources I can trade to get some early money boost and spend that on any Civ States to help me out. I start production on a Scout and my first Research is Animal Husbandry.

Quick change of mind, posts will be every 25 turns since I wont alwasy be able to remember everything >.<

Turn 25: Things are looking bleak, I met Askia who walks around with a really big sword and has a military strength three times bigger than mine already. However I have gotton some research done, Animal Husbandry, Archery and Mining are all complete with Pottery not too far behind them, my concern however is that I have no horses anywhere near me -.- If this guy goes to war im so screwed its unbeliveable.

My two warriors have both earned promotions when fighting barbarians, both of which I gave Drill 1 since there is a lot of rough terrain near my capital so I hope if I do end up in a war then this should help me out, Oh and did I mentions its only him and I on this island? Yeah im really screwed >.<

For my first building I started production on a Monument, the extra culture should help with border expansion and I desprately need some extra tiles for better resources (I plan on spending most of my gold on military units.)

If you weren't playing a one city challenge, this wouldn't be so hard. But: The only reason they appear stronger at present is because of bonuses the AI is given at the start of the game.

one: The monument is a good thing to build. You'll want to get the honour tree first, and use it to acquire a great general to boost your troop strength. (this can also be effective when going for an early land grab to seize resources, judging by TMIT's you tube lets play. A primary build list of scout, worker, monument, settler, while teching for horseback riding).

Two: Can't see if you're developing your lands or not. But, if you haven't got a worker already, WHY NOT? For this kind of thing I might well try and get two. Prioritise the city for growth.

Three: Your resources are actually quite good for growth. Developing animal husbandry first is a smart idea, even though you don't have horses. Can't be helped. Then go for trapping, then masonry, then bronze working, then archery. Then iron working. A combination of spears and archers can be very strong. You'll need to grow your city quite a bit to develop technologically. If you're luck you get iron (wouldn't bank on that though) and will be able to build catapults.

Four: I have a sneaky feeling you're seeking to get stonhenge. Other than that pottery to calender is not going to be useful. Sure, if you get stonehenge, you may find that you're sp's will unlock very quickly (especially with one city). But the only way to survive this is to go onto the offensive before they can build up enough to regard you as weak then attack. Obviously as you're only allowed one city, puppet rather than annexe.

Five: You really will need to befriend city states. You've got all that gold, use it for this (I saw stockholm at the top there. Have you sought to bribe them yet?)

Six: I wouldn't expect you to win with one city. It should be a good learning expereince for you though and shouldn't be impossible. remember, your military will always be more potent than theirs due to bushido.

thanks for the info ^^ I do have a worker just his symbol is hidden behind the city name plate ^^ Personally I never expected to win, If i even managed to escape from this Island I would be very happy knowing I defeated at least one AI.

I do plan on getting to be with Stockholm however im saving that extra little gold just to get more influence at once. Should have another update tonight after work.
