The 20th Century had many horrors, but none is more well-known than the Second World War. What if there was a slight diversion during the German reoccupation of the Rhineland during 1936?
What if, instead of marching into the Rhineland with guns and bullets as a show of its new found power, the Germans marched in with sausages? Who can deny the awesomeness of sausage? Would the French and British have felt threatened by the Germans enjoying themselves with delicious Würste?
I know what you are thinking, this is ridiculous! I must say, I would have agreed with you ten minutes ago, but hear me out.
Instead of of marching into Austria, wouldn't it have been better if the Austrians willingly joined Germany for their shared love of sausage? Would the Czechs have joined willingly as well? There would have been no need for Chamberlain to go to Munich if he could declare in London "Sausages for our time!"
Wouldn't it have been better if Supermarine, Porsche, De Havilland, and Boeing were pumping out sausages instead of tanks or fighter aircraft? Can't we, as decent humans, agree that sausage should be produced instead of killing machines? I bet the Great Depression would have been over sooner if Curtiss-Wright had an assembly line of delicious Bratwursts instead of R-1300's.
Hell, I'm quite certain that Danzig would have left Poland on its own to join the Greater Sausage Reich. The newfound Sausage Alliance between Germany, France, United Kingdom, and the United States could have easily taken on any threat to sausages posed by the USSR. Did the USSR love sausages too?
Sausages > World War II no?
Sausage über alles.
