Just started playing Civ4, and latched on to the FFH2 mod like a lamprey on a pikefish. I love it, and it is awesome. A few questions, however:

1. I am playing the Grigori in my current game. It's my 2nd time to make it to the mid-game. Every so often, my units will take damage for no reason I can determine. Even my workers. I'll be futzing along, developing my burgeoning empire, and suddenly the "Stay inactive until fully healed" button will highlight on all of my active units. If I click the button, it only takes one turn before they're healed, so apparently they're only losing like 0.1 health. I haven't kept track of how often it happens, but it's happened five or six times now. No clue what causes it. Anybody know?

2. Every so often, at the edge of my visible area -- almost always near barbarian animals or a ruin or a dungeon or something -- I'll see a little blue flash of light on a tile. It looks like a series of spreading concentric circles, colored blue. Like someone had dropped something into a puddle of water. It only lasts for a second and then it goes away. Anybody have any clue what this is?

3. How many turns does the game last on Noble?

1. what patch are you playing? if it's M , it's probably a bug. if it's N ... I guess it's blight, which hits when the Armageddon counter reaches 30.

2. I guess someone casted a spell, maybe a summon.

3. it depends on the gamespeed, not difficulty.

Yep, it's M.

Normal gamespeed.

normal game speed is 690 turns IIRC

you should really get patch N, patch M had a rather annoying bug that resulted in your units becoming unable to move every time a random event happens.

I think those pale blue circles indicate a unit spawning. I've noticed Goblin Forts get them and after a unit appears free one already there to move on.

i think one of Auric's rituals causes damage too. it's definitely not a bug. It should tell you why in the event log.

The grand menagerie requires several different cage types. I've seen 4 of the 5 animals needed to build the cages, but I've never seen a tiger. Where can I find tigers?

In the jungle
OR
The priest of leaves unit can summon them.

I've gotten damaged units and lots of cannot move (1-3) stuff happening with N too, and I see it happening to the AI as well. I conquered the entirety of what used to be the Bannor empire (only 4 cities) during stasis, and for the first 3 turns their units had the cannot move(x). (I was Doviello)

Well, there is an event that's SUPPOSED to do that. Its effects were just applying to all events in patch M.

What does Syliven's Perfect Lyre actually do for me? I can't find out what effect it confers.

It doesn't have much effect when picked up, but it doubles the culture output of a city that it is in. Great for a cutlure victory. (obviously)

You know, I always wondered about that 'DOUBLES' effect it has - just like the Crown of Akrien on Research.

I built the Lyre Wonder and had 140 Culture before and 180 after.

Hardly doubled.

Also, the 50% the Academy gives you towards Research seems off.

What you do is add all percentage bonuses you have together. The result is your bonus.

For instance, empyrean temple (10) + library (25) + academy (50) = 85% research bonus.

Doubled = +100% of the base amount generated.

You can mouseover the areas on the city screen to see the breakdown.

What are my options for upgrading a Luchuirp Warrior? I'm playing the Luchu for the first time, and I managed to get a Warrior up to around 115 XP or so. I was looking forward to upgrading him to an Axeman or a Swordsman, but then I discovered I can't. Am I just hosed? Is he forever doomed to be a Warrior?
