A good use of the right-of-passage

I've seen alot of people complaining about how right-of-passage only has on good use and that is to get through another countries terrority. Well here's another one:

If you are preparing to go to war with someone while your getting your units into stacks close to their terrority offer them a right-of-passage agreement.(This might be hard because most of the time the AI doesn't like you very much, just offer them ALOT of gold or a useless science to get it.) The send your units through their terrority to the other side. Then once the right-of-passage clears up you can attack from to differant fronts!!!!

If anyone has any improvements to my idea just say so. I'll try to edit the page more for improvements, when I think of it!

See my tip section in the Strategy & tips section at Idea's, tips, and Strategy's thread.

Oh.... Please tell me if it's a good idea or not. I will like suggestions. Oh and can someone tell me how to work the Quotes please?! And also under the names what does the cheiften and warload stuff mean? Is that a certain kind of ranking?

I am evil:satan: I usually keep telling them to 'Get out of my territory' unitll they are furious. I then let them in and in a few turns attack all their stacks of settlers and spearmen and I got lots of workers... then invade! Bwahahahahaha!:flamedevi

I like to be nice to the other civs and kill them as soon as possible. It helps with the people like me who likes the goverment democracy and need a fast kill to keep away war weariness.((one flaw in my plan through.... You can't back up your units on the other side))

It normally takes a little bit longer for someone to reply to your post than 30 minutes...give it time. :)

How to work the Quotes? Pess the Quotes button on the post you want to quote. The Quote button is on the top right side of the post.

The title under your name can be changed. Click User CP (top right side of of the web site). Click Edit Profile (top left of the screen after you click User CP) and then scroll down until you get to the tile area. Once you are done changing your title scroll down and click Submit Modifications. PM me if you need more help.

Ok....thanks PaleHorse76. I've been looking at these for a couple of months, but I normally don't post. I just started posting last night. (There was 9 or 10 of last message by strider on there)

Thanks for the Help!!!

I wonder if anyone else can come up with a good idea for the right-of-passage agreement?

If you have one just post it here!!

The problem is that you will lose reputation if you use a ROP to attack. You probably won't get another offer of ROP from any other civ after this.
Also if you plan to use this strategy then put 3-4 of your units next to each city and then attack. You should be able to take most of the empire in 1 turn.

Get a ROP, move your units next to their cities via their RR, then declare war and destroy them instantly. You can only do it once though, the rest of the AI's will never give you a ROP again in that game if you use this tactic.

God in my idea you wont use pop points because you just cross to the other side of their terrority for then you can attack from the front and flank. This also works if you take boats and move them around behind the enemy.

Well, if you cancel the ROP after the 20 turns before attacking and declaring war, I don't think you get the rep hit for breaking the ROP.

Exactly ranger:goodjob:

Wont let me delete the stupid repeated posts of there.... Wish their was away to get rid of them.

Well that might work in the middle or early industrial ages because in the late-industrial and modern ages all the territories are occupied by CULTURE influences, so there is no way to "attack from other fronts" because it will all be covered, unless u attack from an ally territory. Then that can be called "attack from other fronts"

You could do that, but yeah you are right. Thanks for the comment!

Another stirling idea for the ROP is once you have concluded a war (mind you , it does require that you are in a possition to dictate the peace) - you station a unit atop of the other civs resources.

During the war, target as many resources for pillage as possible and endevour to keep them road free. When peace comes around, negotiated to include a ROP, the civ can't get the resources developed. This works magically if you have spare of the resources you are blockading - sell them yours... of course, you could just starve them and take a handy 20 turn rearmament phase ready for the next offensive..

Dang, 6ajax9! You are a truly twisted, back-stabbing, vile person.... I like it!! YOU I think I would like to have on my side;)

My favorite use of ROP is when I'm between two AI civs that are at war. This works really well when you have a fairly narrow front, especially in hills or mountains. If I want to go after one of them myself, I'll give that one the ROP. Then he moves a great deal of his troops across the border to attack the other civ. Then I move in some defensive units and fortify to keep his troops locked over there. Then declare war myself. :-) Not only does this catch your foe unprepared, it also means that he manages to knock the most likely interference into the ground. :D

I think I got the Quote thing to work. How about if a Civ. keeps 'invading' your territory, You have the right to declare war on them (if not an ally, of course). If you do declare war, you have 'war weariness' one level lower than normal.
