A Gun Free Utopia

Suppose for an instant you could eliminate all guns from the face of the Earth.

That is military, civilian, police, everything, and nobody could ever make or use guns again. No other technology is affected, so we still have nukes, computers, missiles, and lets say heavy military guns. Like those on tanks, airplanes etc. are unaffected. But no guns that are small enough to be carried will exist.


Would you do it? Or would you make everyone keep their guns? Remember no criminals will have any guns either, nor will terrorists etc.

So what do you do? Poll coming...

Yes get rid of them ffs. Let me see... would I rather have an accidental stab at my skull with a dagger or with a 9mm bullet? hmmm.... I think I'll take the one that doesn't leave an exit wound the size of 1/3 of my skull, thank you. If somebody wants to kill me, he could do it with a pen or a spoon. The end result will be the same (unless I had a gun! haha! please note the sarcasm). If I threw a spoon by accident at my daughter, because I thought she was a robber, she might be really mad at me for a week. But she'd live.

In my opinion guns give power to easily. Any freaking emo kid can get enough firepower to kill a dozen innocent people each of which is a thousend times better than him. I mean nobody can stop you from being violent, but with guns just anybody can do a lot of damage. With other weapons I mean sure I can spend 20 years training with knives and fists, and become tough enough to kill dozens of people before I get taken out. But your average emo kid can't.

It's like capitalism. Now you have to actually work for the ability to hurt innocent people.

If the poll were to eliminate guns + all weapons more advanced than guns I'd vote yeah, get rid of them. But if the world's military's can still have large guns than civilians at least oughta be able to have small ones!

They're very good at reducing the nuisance deer population, though... bowhunting is so much more likely to leave the poor things wounded if you're not good enough at it.

If there was some way to keep them for hunting and for sport, perhaps?

In addition, it would be nice to have some sort of ranged defense weapon. You know, for those potential "held at knifepoint" situations.

I'm better at shooting guns than swinging swords. So, no.

If somebody, somehow, could eliminate all guns from the face of the earth, that would be an accomplishment.

Of course, then, the first ***hole to re-invent guns would rule the world.

Utopias are nice to think about, but always remember that some ***hole will always come around and screw things up for everybody.
