...because, at 11AM this morning, the Loony (briefly) actually managed to slip ahead of the greenback (1.0003). Right now it has slipped back just under the dollar mark, but to all practical purposes parity has been achieved (unless CND takes a big fall in the afternoon or something).

Actually, Warpus, it hasn't - not by the official trackers (ie, the various federal banks). According to them, this is the first time since 1976.

And yes, right now, as I said, the USD is back in a slight lead (the CND is worth 99.9 cents US), but the general trends the past few weeks have been up for CND and down for USD, so...

ah well, it's a positive thing overall, right?
Considering the stuff I see that are like $9.99 US and $12.99 CAN at the same time, 'tis a ripoff.

'twill be good for ordering online, though. Which in the long run is good for the US economy, but hey, that's free trade for you.

DAMN YOU! I have been watching the dollar for 2 years now waiting for the opportunity to make this thread!

Sobieski, do you honestly think there is such a thing as a Canadian who has NOT spent the past two years (excepting lumber industry worker, and Harper cabinet member) waiting for the opportunity to rub this in the American's collective face once it finally happened? ;-)

I guess Canadians now feel almost as good as when burning the White House!

the British did that, though Canada was still basically a colony back then so its almost the same ;)
