No mod needed for that, just a very quick key-press of <F10> which opens the city screen for your capital. If you succeed, the capital's screen will pop up while you hear the citizens of the conquered city scream -- then press the left arrow key to switch to your last city which will be your newest acquisition...

I found it works best when the last attacker is given its goto-order by holding the left mouse button down over the city so you can press F10 immediately after releasing it (I also have Quick Moves and Quick Combat (Offense) enabled).

If this is old knowledge, please ignore; if you think this is cheap and don't like it - then don't use it :p ;).

Merry Xmas everybody!

nice to know but it would still be nice if a mod somehow made you being able to make a choice with the "hold your horses, let me look around first" or sometihng in those lines

Merry Christmas all. And very usefull DanF.

:ninja: !!!

Well, I assume this works better with computers with less processing power .... :p

But thanks Dan ( and why on earth Firaxis haven't changed this quirk? ppl are complaining about this since vanilla :p )

Did you guys not realize this whole time that you can see what is in the city just by simply looking at it from the outside?

You should KNOW this before you even ATTEMPT to attack the city.

Yeah, I know, and yeah, I usually decide whether to keep or raze before attacking. Still, it's pretty stupid not to have the option. Also, I don't think you can see settled great people from outside, can you?

It should be obvious when looking at the wonders built, and what they popped. You know the merchants wont be in there, and you know they also threw their GP away when the GA starts.

you can't see what city the AI plants their GP. I've seen some bizarre AI decisions on where to settle (e.g., Monty settling a GP in a Confucian holy city that doesn't have a shrine yet).

The fact that he didn't build the temple right after popping it, tells you right away he settled it.

This is a nice little trick to try. Unfortunately in my case the raze/keep decision is mainly based on the position of the city or the availability of a settler to replace and the contents of the city doesn't factor into my decision.

Well, I don't play with a pad of paper next to me, and I can't memorize that all, so thanks!

I put in a recommendation to the BuG team for you. I'm not sure when they will get around to it, but there really only is a limited amount of G-people to pop, it shouldn't be that hard to keep track of. You can always put a label on a city if you have memory problems.

When I think about it, there is one small detail that I never did pay attention to. That little black rook icon that appears on some cities and not others. I can only assume it has something to do with defence...

I don't know I've seen AIs save GPs.
I was going to mention what you said about looking at the city from outside but I would add 'yet another feature that requires boring unnecessary micro', so great find by Dan if it works consistently.

This is great news! Previously, I had to peek "into" a city from the OUTSIDE which was 1) cumbersome, 2) difficult because of the small size of buildings and other factors like buildings behind other buildings, and 3) I couldn't tell if any AI had any settled Great People in the city, such as Great Generals, etc.

In BTS, if your espionage points are high enough against the target civ, you should be able to look at the city's screen before you attack. Also, IIRC, in vanilla and Warlords, if you have a spy unit walk into the city before attacking, you can do the same. Of course, that isn't possible until very late in the game in vanilla and Warlords.
