i wanted to mention how slavery is one of the most popular civics to use, however i have beaten it numerous times on emperor and have never used slavery. i started never using it cause i wanted to be a just ruler, and got used to playing that way. when i try to use it though, i find it's annoying losing happiness, because i usually like to grow my cities to the max, and i don't like the revolts. so i just never use it, and have gotten victories on emperor with space, culture, and domination. so you dont have to enslave your populace to win!!

Wait, the 'No Workers Paradise' game actually succeced? Wow.....

Well that is you. Many people have startegies that they find perfect, yet others find isn't their cup of tea. It is of course possible, you are not alone in not using slavery.

Got disappointed when I read he was going to use workboats. Lousy cheater! Is there a proper no-worker game to read? ;)

I didn't choosed anything. I asked the team if they wanted with or without WB. There was one vote to ban WB and 3 to keep them. My personal vote would not change it

And given the way the game went ( it became easy after conquering some improved land ) , maybe I'll do eventually a "No worker paradise" without WB too. But not now.

Swell. Is it all that much more ennobling to remain tribal, exploit serfs, or enforce a caste system through most of recorded history? They all just skirt the issue. Better to just acknowledge the ever-present ignominy of human slavery and find a way to deal with the bitterness.

Funny. Human subjugation is apparently wrong but wholesale human slaughter and living off their remains is considered 'paradise'. A new trait of 'Cognitive Dissonant' may have to be instituted.:shifty:

So is this another one of those pointless threads where you don't actually give any useful information about why slavery is bad or what alternative strategies work better?

The title was obviosly sarcastic and even in the first level of reading, it had two diferent meanings ;) ( "No worker" paradise or No "worker paradise" )

Slavery kills people.

I, however, was completely serious about the cognitive dissonant trait. Although, it starts to actually build towards an awesome new expansion: 'Failures'.
