Note to HoF staff:

My most recent game, Russia/Standard/Monarch/Spaceship, that I'm about to submit, is riddled with what appears to be obsessive reloads in the AD years (more than a half dozen in all), but I've actually been experiencing bad crashing with Civ again, perhaps due to my excessively old computer that literally has had smoke coming out of it (bought in 2002). I just want to make this clear, and I can provide additional saves while you are reviewing the game, just to show there is no dishonesty or benefit reaped out of doing this. (edit: Also considering the game is going to be a relatively poor date, probably a #5 or #6 slot, I hope this brings more credence to my claims)

Just wanted to post this ahead of time in case any questions arise! :)

I may have to suspend HoF games for a month or two while I order a new computer, just because the crashes are getting to be that bad. Strangely, it doesn't really seem to matter what size map I play on, nor do I experience any other problems, such as graphical deficiencies, game lag, or anything like that. It's just random crashes every so often at an increasing pace.

Might defragmenting your HD work? I have had the problem once that whenever I tried to save (I don't use auto saves) the game would crash. Defragging the drive the save games go to made the problem vanish.

It's worth a shot. I'll try that.

Thanks for the information. You could always email or (my preferred) PM me or Tone for any problems in the future. I'll make sure I reject check it when it comes in. ;)

I had/have the same issue with my latest HOF entry; I had eight crashes in that game (Monarch, Huge, 100K as France). I was able to document the crashes in the turnlog and for seven of the eight crashes I have before/after manual save. I never thought about saving the autosaves; too obvious, I guess!

I didn't know how to handle the crash issue, so I posted my write up first and then used that URL in my submission. If the game is rejected, it is rejected. At least I finished the game and got the write up done and posted. So to me, this game and the associated HOF ordeal is over; done and buried.

@Marsden: Exactly how would that work? We PM before we submit?
