I'm sure we could not get away with quoting many passages from classic literature. Why should other forms of art get a pass from the rules?

A&E would be better in the Tavern than the Chamber even if you decided to merge them, and I still don't think you should. :p

So put Science and History into the Chamber and invigorate all three, leaving A&E's fate to be decided. :)

I see that you've included science and history together, and it's interesting because those areas tend to deal with factual things. We may disagree on the why of things, but the events themselves happened (or the math is simply either right or wrong).

A&E is more about creativity and opinions. As an example, I think Kyriakos posts the most godawful depressing stuff. But for some reason, he likes it. I don't like it. And neither of us is absolutely right or wrong. It's all subjective.

Merge the MLP, DYOS, and TP threads so that they stay on or close to page 1 when it is moved to the Tavern.
I don't read the MLP threads, so I'm not even sure what they're about, beyond discussing cartoons. I haven't looked at the TP threads since leaving staff, as it's not a subject that interests me personally - in fact, most of the music threads aren't of personal interest to me, since my preferences are a lot tamer and more old-fashioned than pretty much anything else on this forum. The DYOS threads cannot all be consolidated into the same thread. That's ludicrous, since one is meant to discuss the progress and ideas of the storylines and art, and the others are the stories themselves.

You should PM me or another mod with the details then.

*Not meant to read as "PM me nude pics plz!"
How can he give you examples of what he's talking about if he doesn't include the pictures? :mischief:

History is not about "factual things" either. History has far more to do with critical analysis (of art) than it has to do with science. "Creativity and opinions" is Being a Historian 101 (tm)

Nope - PMDMA is not really the path I want to go down on this. It's something that would promote the current discussion if only we didn't have overly strict PDMA rules, but given those rules, I'm fine to end things on the subject here.

I'm fairly sure he wasn't serious. :)

I find the above post to be quite depressive :/ You don't even know me, maybe it would be a bit healthier to focus on actual people in your own rl.

Because the Red Diamond was a ridiculous concept that no one noticed, used or cared about.

Exactly. There is a loud minority that want a high-brow discussion, on a gaming forum meant for 13 year olds. They have been given multiple outlets for their discussion, and all have choked on inactivity.

This minor population, is being given excessive attention and causing a negative impact on the flow of the website.
We have to stop pretending CFC is something it is not.
We have to stop being personally offended by that notion.
YES, I know you are an intellectual, I know you want to discuss your likes in a circle-jerk of admiring glances.
For that, go to a specialised forum.
CFC is a gaming forum first and foremost.
Its members are by a vast majority young teens.
Off-topic should be, just that; a hodge-podge of non-cfc discussions on a level that suits teenagers.
We can't branch off areas in a hope to avoid them, raise the entry requirements and end up discussing poetry to a doctorate level.

I agree with a large part of the above. However, while indeed CFC is a game-related site and not a university's amphitheatre, from time to time some more 'high-brow' threads can and do indeed appear. They can be met with negative or not so negative stances, which is again just fine. I think the site is ok for what it is and for its large size, but surely it is not a seminar on art or science. That said, you never know where you may read something of interest and sometimes i do read interesting information which i was not aware of in some of the threads.

I agree in general, however there is no harm in having a single unified place for more serious discussion, such as the Chamber (even if I have no interest in it). Particularly if it allows the Tavern to maintain its more free-flowing nature (due to the additional leeway given by the moderators).
