I have come to fool around alot during my latest games and this time I decided to accept peaceful vassals when they asked me. I was a bit curious since I normally don't as I've read they are not of much use. On the contrary! With good diplomatical ties I can set them to research stuff that I later trade them for. Also, I just managed to get 900 gold from Elizabeth just by asking nice. "Could you spare this for a good friend?".

Its a nice way to keep good relations yes, but i've also experienced asking my colony to research a tech, that they later said "We're not ready to start trading this quite yet".

That shouldnt be an option really. Had to steal it from them with a spy

Yeah they tend to do that but if the tech in question is not urgently needed they will let it go sooner or later
