A poll on the aerial view

Ok then, as we ALL know, with conquest the aerial view and the palace were both removed. Some people have it in them that the majority of players didn't like either view but can't provide any evidence of this therory so I thought to myself this would be a good poll, so here we go!

I didn't really "hate" the aerial view, but it doesn't bother me one bit that it is gone....very rarely did I actually look at it As for the palace, that I kinda miss

Are you talking about the thing where you build the palace bit by bit?

In any case, I do with out either of them.

I should have been more descriptive. What I mean is that the aerial and palace were disabled for modded games and conquests. And yup, palace was were you built it up slowly peice by peice.

I always looked at that as being a mark of how good I'm doing, sense Civ came out I've never been able to get a palace fully build. Seeing as I always play modded games (my current has 3 extra units and a larger map) I may never get to.

So what? I never look at them. No-one looks at them. It's a wasted aspect that has no real place in the game. I think it's frankly silly how people are whining about it. I'm glad they're concerntrating more on the gameplay more then the asthetics, frankly.

I looked at them and enjoyed the minor diversion of building the palace. They were already in the game and working, i can see no reason to have taken them out.

They're only taken out in Conquests (as in the individual Conquests such as Rise of Rome and Mesoamerica). That is why I don't understand people whining so much.

Black Waltz, they were removed for conquest and custom mods. Myself and alot of others play mods for various reasons, myself I like having afew flavor units and I also enjoy playing a larger (250x200) world with 24 other civs.

As for that comment. That comment is the very reason I did this poll. As of the time of this post you can plainly see that ALOT of people liked both palace and aerial view and ALOT of other people liked just one of them. Going by the numbers, the majority LIKED one of the other so keep comments like that to yourself untill the poll shows that the majority of people hated both of them.

As for the rest of that comment.. There was NO reason why it was removed in my opinion. So there was no art work for the new wonders and such and no art work for the buildings in the conquests. Big deal, that in mine and a fair number of other people opinion was not a good reason for them to be removed.

I will not tolorate someone saying MY opinion for me. No-one liked them, everyone hated them... commentents like that include me in them as I am a person and a long time player of the game.

I can't answer the poll, as the answers are much too caricatural.

I didn't "hated" any of them. The aerial view was nice, and the palace was giving a feeling of progression.

But on the other hand, I really don't care that much on the aerial view. The palace, though, was great. I loved the palace from Civ1 and the throne room (and advisors ^^) from Civ2. I don't understand why the palace is deactivated for custom game. Aerial view, ok, because of modded buildings. But Palace, come on !

Both the palace and the city view were cheap gimmicks. I would have prefered something where you can pick or even design your own national flag. Anyway, the palace and ariel view were not realistic and didn't impact on gameplay as far as I recall. Good riddance to them.

Besides they are still in the core game.

Basically I was stating my opinion about the people whinging about how they were removed from the mods. These are people who will whine about anything and I am basically fed up with it. So what if they haven't put in graphics for the new mods? Maybe it would have taken too long? Maybe it would then have had the release pushed back to Febuary? The city view is useless. It does not show any useful information. They got rid of that, however, and now we have the Victory Information screen... Now THAT is useful.

Oh. And it makes sense they got rid of Palace view in the Scenario's. Wouldn't it be rather silly to design your Palace in the WWII Pacific Conquest?

I agree 100%. I did not vote since I neither hate it nor love it. If you could edit the poll and offer an "I don't care" option. That is where my vote would be. Since it did not effect game play, I am surprised they took it out. For people like me, we just never viewed them.

I don't really think that the aerial view is important. I would rather they work on the actual game then some extra graphics. Same with the palace view.

Right. It is not like I was forced to use it or look at it. It never bothered me.

I voted that I hated the Palace. The first time I played I enjoyed it, after that I found it a slight nuisance. I really did not hate it!!
