A question about civil unrest

I noticed something finally after all these years of playing, I was at war with a civ with the same religion as me, I was getting a lot of "We don't want to fight against our religious brothers" or something like that. So I changed religions and I kept getting the same message, what's up with that?

Just cause you changed religions does not mean you don't have folks that follow the other religions in your cities.
