Hello. I've been lurking these forums for about 2 years or around that sort of time.

Anyway, I have some questions:

1. Is it possible to "merge" mods? Like, say I have a mod which adds a leaderhead, and one which adds units. Could I play both at the same time?

2. Do any of you know of a good "Modern War" type Mod which adds various helicopters, ships and what-not?

3. This is a more "tactical" question: I generally like to play a sort of isolationist role. I like to start on a fairly large and resourceful island and make sure that by the end of BC, i'm the only person there. However, I notice that A) I get massacred in war and only when I get a seemly random production boost do I pummel them with sucide attacks untill I win. This happens even when I am very much superior and use units which are better-suited towards fighting the units of the enemy.

And B) I find that when I move my units towards a Civ which has started on a large continent with other civs, I get mauled! Even when I have a fairly large force. I always thought it better not to start near others in order to secure more resources and spend less time and production on building an army. Am I incorrect?

1) Yes, with a little bit of XML merging, nothing major. Could be done in about half an hour.

2) VD has a modern era expansion. VD adds tons of new flavor units to the game (flavor unit = example: an axeman that has all the same stats, but the Axeman for say France will look different than one being used by Ethiopia). I've never played just VD though.

I use Catapults and artillery a lot, but doesn't make too much of a difference.

I've had Archers(!) get >99.9% odds against Knights because of siege. Suicide a few siege units, and total losses will be minimal. Sometimes (especially when I get cannons) siege consists of half my invasion force.

Thanks guys. I'm about to go play a game through the whole morning, so i'll get back to you with the news on if siege worked or not :P
 
If more siege doesn't work, try even more.

I only had one time that I felt I had too much siege, my first game of BTS when I had a stack of catapaults only...and when I realized they couldn't kill anymore, I just quit.

Other than that one time, I have never had a situation when I would trade a single siege unit for an attacking unit, even if it meant taking a city in multiple turns...after all, its just more exp for the siege weapons!
