A Rule Change That Would Make AI 100% Harder to Beat

Although it is difficult to test because of how hard it is to mod into the game, a simple rule change would make this AI much harder to beat:

- Units cannot heal on after a turn after they took damage.


What this would mean, in effect, is if you park a unit in Guard mode and another unit charges at them, the Guarding unit doesn't get a free heal just because it "didn't move." It couldn't have rested that turn, after all. It was fighting.

The AI already basically plays like this rule is true. It is very, very bad at guarding. It's easy to goad the AI into attacking you, which puts it at a disadvantage (you almost always want to be Guard rather than Attack).

It would also make the AIs tendency to spread damage around to multiple units instead of focus firing much more devastating. Every unit hit in a round doesn't get a chance to heal.

Anyway, just my observation after 2 years of making mods. :)
 
Change the mechanics of archers so that "fire" is different from "move."

The game treats "firing an arrow" at a target as "attempting to move to the target destination." Since the archer CAN'T move to a destination filled by another unit, it will instead shoot at it. However, THE MOVE WILL STILL BE QUEUED for the next round, which means that the AI archer will attempt to move his archer to that square if you vacate it.

It's an incredibly useful trick for archer wars.
