If you go to civmod.bic file, the production rating for "nuclear plant" is 4, same as the Iron Work. But in civpedia, Iron Work gives you 100% boost, while Nuke Plant 150%

I haven't done a thorough test, but can anyone confirm that Nuke Plant does give 150% boost, and Iron Work 100%? (Never had Iron Works in my games)

Hmm,you haven´t had a reply,so I guess I might aswell answer :D

Haven´t had the Iron Works yet either, what I can tell you though, after building the Nuclear Power plant my production is indeed a lot higher than coal or other power plants boosts, usually climbing into the 100+ shields in good cities,as for the Iron Works, ppl who have actually had it,experienced a boost in shield production to way over 200 shields in well placed cities, so the production is not comparable at all,try building the IW! :)

There was another thread on this not too long ago, search somewhere mid February, but I think your question is answered.

IW gives a very high boost before Factories . That is: the bonus from a Factory (and from Powerplants) is cumulative to the IW!!!!!

Usually I can build Armies in IW cities that have a Factory but no Powerplant in 4 turns! Also, I can always outrun the AI to wonders, even if the IW city is not well-sited!

I think there may be some confusion with what the percentages mean and the way the Civilopedia is worded.

The IronWorks gives you an additional 100% production in the city in which it's built. So if you had been producing 50 shields, now you would produce 100.

A Nuclear plant, like any other power plant, boosts your production to 150% of what it was. So if you had been producing 50 shields, you would now produce 75.

Don't believe everything you read in the manual or the Civilopedia, there's all sorts of errors in both. Whatever you see in the editor is the numbers the game actually uses, so the Nuclear Plant does in fact give a 100% increase, not 150%.

Didn't IW give just one extra shield for each square?

No, that was King Richard's Crusade in Civ2.
The Iron Works doesn't show on the city map but it doubled what my city produced before with a factory + coal plant (Houston went from 52 to 104 shields - regular pollution though). I will soon be testing the Nuclear plant in combination with IW :)

without exact checking (in current game IW is at 95% waste, too far from capital) it looks like the IW gives tiles the bonus a factory does. Like hill+Iron+Rail produces 6 instead of 4...

essentially you can build a second factory whose bonus is cumulative with the other bonusses :D
