I'm home, where are you?
First off I'm astounded by the quality of the unit animations on this site... I thought the animated units would be the death of Civ customation, I was wrong. I can't wait to get my hands on Womak's Dragon and Trebuchet units... Anyway with the obligatory (though well earned) praise out of the way I have a request for a unit. I can't seem to make anything worthwhile myself so I thought I'd ask the experts. What I'm looking for is a simple Mortar (or seige gun) circa the US Civil War. I've seem a mortar on this board already, but it is a modern (ww2) version. I've attached an image of one from my old civ2 collection. I had thought to make it confined to cities for defense, using the immobile. Maybe able to be transported over sea if those two are compatable, maybe even using the air ability 'rebase' if that's possible on a land unit (probably not now that I think on it). But that's my idea anyway... Is there any way to make it only traval on roads? I know I can keep it off mountains and jungle... Here's the image of my idea... Once again great work everyone and thanks for considering my request :)

oki , i'm working on it ( you were so sweet :)), but could you precise the exact period ?
you're talking about the U.S civil war , but for me it's more a XV
century weapon ? If you have some web sites with informations about it , don't hesitate to post them here .

i found this , i think it's the one you were thinking about , i'll do it , it's an interesting unit. ( excuse me , you were right , it was a civil war artillery unit , used in fortifications and coastal fortress )

tell me if i'm wrong.

ok , it's done :) , it's a very simple unit , not very spectacular with minimal animation , but it could serve.
only attack and default animation, team color works.
(i used the canon sound)
i'll give you the final folder tomorrow as i'll post it to the webmaster ( i just need to do some little precisions )

Tchô!

Holy... I wasn't expecting any responses this fast. It may be a simple unit but it looks absolutely wonderful Womoks. I can't thank you enough... :goodjob:
