A touching story involving Firaxis and a dying fan: "Luke was here: A remarkable moment of kindness during the making of Marvel’s Midnight Suns"

I came across this story about how Firaxis helped a young man dying of brain cancer play an early build of Midnight Suns before he passed away, and then memorialized him in the game. It really touched me and I thought it was worth sharing to Civ fans.

This part especially impressed me:

There was no Midnight Suns build at the time. The game was still a long way from completion. With very little time left, Firaxis, 2K and Marvel got together and worked through the night to get a build ready for Luke to play. It was a feat achieved in just 24-hours.

Perhaps not quite so headline worthy but Civ VI (on Nintendo Switch) was my saving grace when I was in hospital.

Also re: health
gaming in general can significantly improve mental health.

I think someone will do a thesis on gaming as an occupational therapy 🙂
