A Wonder-ful future

The line was so good in the turn chat - I had to bring it back!

Yes, it's a wonder-ful time, a Great time in fact! Fanaticans have seen the benefits of the Forbidden Palace of Groton. Cities that were formerly corrupt are now production powerhouses. Our largest cities now have well developed infrastructures, and are producing at or neat 20 shields per turn!

In case you didn't guess from the title, I'd like to start building wonders. Being a greedy American capitalist, I'd like to start work in two different sites - Duex Rivières and Groton.

DR is currently size 12, producing 24 shields (net of waste) per turn. Infrastructure wise, it lacks a Cathedral and a University. It is producing three additional food, so can increase it's shield production a little bit. This will require clearing of jungle to happen.

Groton is currently size 7. Ignore the numbers in the save and the summary - Groton needs some slight MM. It should be producing about 15 shields, minimum, per turn, with about 2 food per turn stored. Infrastructure-wise, it is building a marketplace, and lacks a Library and Colosseum.

DR can build Sun Tzu's in 24 turns. Groton (at 15 spt) can build Sun Tzu's in 39 turns. The Sistine Chapel is available as a backup plan for both.

I am proposing the following:

DR completes the Knight it is currently working on. It then starts Sun Tzu's Academy. A worker gang is dispatched to clear the Jungle around DR to maximize shield output.

Groton completes the Marketplace and starts the Sistine Chapel. We use several cities with high food to produce enough workers to bring Groton up to size 12.

There are other high shield (10+) cities to help with any war effort. Vandelay is at 13 spt, with Bootsville and Montpellier both at 9, and still smallish in size (6 and 7).

Finally, as we continue to research, other, backup wonders will be available for us, just in case. Groton also has the Palace available if needed.

While the needs of the military are important, we need to think long term, and start the contruction of these wonders. Sun Tzu's will give us Barracks in all our cities on the main continent. This will dramatically help the war effort. The Sistine Chapel doubles the effect of Cathedrals. We are currently at a 20% luxury rate. The SC will help to lower that as our larger cities, most likely to have cathedrals, will be happier with fewer luxuries or entertainers.

The start of Term 4 is nearly upon us. Let's start it with the initiation of 2 Great Wonders of the Middles Ages, and demonstate to all other Civs that the French are a power and a culture to be reckoned with!

Umm, I would rather like to see a library, Temple, and then a Cathedral to be built in Groton

CG - check out the save. Groton HAS a Temple and a Cathedral. And has for two turn chats.

Hmm, I can have the city of Groton to build the following.

Marketplace -> Granary -> Knights

Maybe because Groton already has a granary? Let me suggest you look at the save instead of posting meaningless things.

Tao, I would appreicate that you dont treat me like a newbie, I have been around the Demogame for a year. Thanks.

Anyway. Here is my new proposal for Groton.

Marketplace -> Knights -> Knights

I am currently NIFOS, and haven't studied the save well. It seems Groton has all buildings it requires (besides perhaps a market).

We've just got the education-tech. This allows Universities to be build. I thought we were going to become a research-giant ? If so: Universities !
If not: Groton has very little use for military, if no war is planned in the east of our continent. Wonders are fine then.

He was only pointing out your error. There is no need to attack him.

While looking at the save. Here is the queue that I would go with if were not going to have Groton not to build Knights

Marketplace -> Library -> University.

You made a lot of posts, many showing that you didn't look at the save before posting. Especially with a year of demogame experience, you shouldn't do this.

In another thread you advocated to build a university in Deux Rivieres.

In still another you advocated Sun Tzu's.

In the turnchat instructions, you ordered a courthouse for the 0 corruption capital.

To me, this looks utterly clueless. I would be happy if you prove me wrong in the future.

Quidquid agis, prudenter agas, et respice finem.

In general I like the idea of picking up some wonders. However, over civs have been building these 2 wonders for many turns. We should try to pick up another tech that allows a wonder so that if both Sun Tzu's and Sistine's are built that we have something to switch DR to (Groton can switch to the Palace).
