AA04: Victoria’s Aggressive Adventures

You're correct, I did no more whipping after the second turn. I meant rush buy in subsequent turns.

And negy is also correct. I neglected to check specialists after I whipped Beijing. My bad.

I'm leaning towards America as the invasion target. He's more advanced and stronger than the others, I think. Taking him out and seizing all his cities will put us well on the way to a domination victory.

Here's the save again, just in case :

First of all, sorry I take such a long while.

We are one turn away from Military Science, so I upgraded our general first to pikeman before it must go to readcoats or grenie.

Next, I feel we have not made full use of the revolt-less UniSuff. We have a lot of money, yet we choose to spend most of it on red coats. Hmmm ... that isn't the most optimal.

Anyway, I tried my best to rushbuy science buildings (eg. observatories) in our best commerce cities until the last turn of golden age, we left UniSuff and go back to Rep:

I played until the last turn of steel is abt to come in. Suggest we save money, mass upgrade our sieges to cannons and start the war.

Some info of the current situation:

Got this one too. Tonite or tomorrow.

I'm back.

Looks like FDR is an easy target.

Am I skipped or up after berserkers?

Steel came in at the first turn, I choose Nationalism next heading towards MT for cavs.

Joao came by with a demand for Steel. After thinking about it for a bit, I turned him down, he's only slightly above us in power.

Nationalism came in, MT next.

Mt in, Scientific Method next.

Then Joao declared on us :p [forgot screenie here]

And this stack appeared at our doorstep.

Our Frigates made short work of them.

Then another stack showed up near Pharsalos, and again was made short work off with a couple of Ship of the line whipped.

Even got a GG out of it, he's sitting in London awaiting orders.

A GM is born in Beijing, he's also awiting orders there.

Sitting Bull came by with a trade request, but I said no. I don't think the trade is fair.

Scientific Method in, I tentatively select Steam Power next. Next player feel free to change it.

I stopped here. I sank 11 Galleons, 3 Carracks, and 8 Frigates this round. No troops were landed this set. Hopefully that'll be most of Joao's navy. A little healing up and we should be ready to move our navy out. Our army now has a few cannons mixed in and some cavs are being ordered up and should make a very nice second stack once our navy comes back to reload.

NOTE: There's a Joao galleon near one of our city on the SE coast. Please look out for it.

Here's the power graph at the beginning of my set:

And the power graph at the end of my set:

Looks like an exciting turn set :hammer:

Damed, we got another GM? Suggest we build the cathedral buildings in BeiJing to enable some more priests (we need one more temple somewhere to enable it). Meanwhile, the GM can be triggered for another golden age (or settled for food in GPFarm), I just don't know when will be the good time for it.

The GG should be used for a Military Academy. Either one of the cities with MI or the HE city. If we are building a second stack, we should probably have coastal cities build up more supply of galleons.

While we are at war, there are clearly some cities are commerce based (Camulo, cantebury comes to mind). These should concentrate on commerce/science enhancing infrastructure. We also should build the Oxford.

We also should build the Oxford.
Ah yes, it will take 11 turns at London to build the Oxford if we want to build it there :)

Got it, plan on playing tomorrow but no promises :p

Really nice set :D Looks like Joao's first wave has been smashed and I get to ship out our offensive force.

Plan on using the GM for a GAge, build a MA in some coastal city (like fox suggested) and start oxford. Another option for the GM would be trade mission that would surely be nice though I don't want to risk losing it.

I have not seen the save yet, but I think our economy should be cooking along well enough that we don't need to risk losing a Great Merchant taking an intercontinental journey during a war. I think it smarter to cash him in on a Golden Age. We can use the science slider to generate plenty of cash if and when we need it.

Your other ideas look fine to me:
-- build Military Academy in coastal city (whichever has max hammers?)
-- start Oxford University
-- invade other continent

That should keep you busy ;)

I guess so.

I'll focus on :hammer: on those poor overseas cities OFC ;)

Playing now.

Played 10 highly enjoyable turns.

IHT
Start Ox in London, change tiles to get it in 10 turns done. We have no other city with a decent beaker output and some production.

Bibracte will get the military academy. It is strongset coastal production city (after london which is building ox so no military, we're sure to get more GGs soonish ;)).

I set both of our vassals to tech constitution. Pericles seemed to bulb it after some turns (he was 30 turns away before).

I also gift both some techs, including gunpowder and astronomy.

I make sure the Priestslots in Beijing are filled and kick off a 15-turn GA (ox now due in 8)

Research is set to 0% for treb upgrades and deficit research once oxford is done.

2(IBT)
Brennus loses some crapcity to Joao

3(IBT)
FDR doesn't learn about the secrets of rifling

3
Our fleet set out on the IHT and finally reaches portuguese soil

(city was razed and the single redcoat killed by a cuirassier)

Bibracte gets its military academy. Later I found out it lacks a barracks :hammer2:

4
We take Nobamba without any losses. And we get a shrine! WOOT :woohoo:

5
Start Forbidden Palace in Sparta
We get another Greek revolt in Athenes
And our trebs can't upgrade  Gotta raze some cities first...

7
Our units have another field day, Ulundi taken without any losses

Also our forces outside Guimares have no problems. Well, besides that there are so many units inside, I don't capture it this turn.

8
Oxford done -> Research @ 100% now.
FDR builds the Kremlin
Joao supplied Guimares with a stack of catapults (!) so I don't capture it this turn. Again, the last defender would be killed by our last active redcoat.
A GG is born, on the way to London to build a military academy there.
I also find 4 (hopefully and likely loaded) portuguese galleons (which are sunk OFC)

9
Guimares is finally captured

so is a crappy city. I kept it as FDR had a settler party nearby and we'd have to deal with it later. Probabely should've razed it anyway...

I also make this deal (only realize now that Pericles finished constitution)

10
I capture another crapcity. Give it to pericles (for the 2 free riflemen of course ;))

---

I end here.

- We should adopt Police state before the GA ends. We don't need research anymore at latest when we get AL. Our treasury should bring us there quickly.

- I didn't move one of the stacks in portugal (I think it's in guimares). I want to let some other player take responsibility if the city gets recaptured when you move them out :p
More serious, since we can see the inner city radius, I don't see how joao can take the city. Leave 2-3 coats there and it'll be fine. The trebs can't be upgraded too, OFC . At least the defences are always bombared in advance by our navy.

- Speaking of which, we have some reinforcements on the way.

- I'm gathering units in London and Bibracte. We can launch our attacks from both sides. I built lots of cavalry hoping to get a proper stack of them together, that can capture some coastal cities while coats/cannons take the inner cities (in the next war, FDR, or whoever it will be). I also built quite some cannons. We don't really need them tough.

- I think that's all. A few sets of mopping up and the game is won.

- As you can see no AI has the important military techs. We're more than save.

- Lastly, the power graph, just because it's so beautyful. Nearly no losses on our sides, but not so on the other...
