Ability to warn an ally of an impending invasion

Sometimes I play with permanent alliances on and one of the things I would add is the ability to tell your ally I'm going to attack Civ X soon, so make sure that you're ready. Too often, my ally is either unable to lend any type of assistance or has his cities woefully inadequately defended, which is a bit frustrating.
