Has anyone looked into adding the Aborigines of Australia into the game? I'd love to do that, but I can't really find much on cities or leaders.

Isn't there a more correct name for Aborigines? I thought there was.

I was going to say the same thing, but was afraid of a PC lynch.

"Indigenous Australians" is the Australian equivalent to "Native Americans" from what I can gather... a more PC term that is rarely used.

serriously, aboriginies had less of a culture (in Civilization terms) than the new barbarians do. i'm not saying that they were any less of people, just not as civilized or important, historicaly, as say the English. and by civilized I mean that they didn't build citys, rule over empires, raise massive armies, make any great contributios to science or the arts (cave paintings, big whoop! thats pretty standard fare for tribes of people the world over), or really do anything noteworthy, except surviving. There isn't really much to be had in adding an aboriginal civilization. I would love for someone to prove me wrong though, cause Australia is looking pretty empty.

Since the Aborigines were really at the level of civilization represented in the game by the small villages you come across, you're going to hard pressed to find cities, leaders, etc., for them.

From scanning through Wikipedia, here are my suggestions:

Leaders: Yagan or Mannalargenna

Traits: Aggressive, Spiritual

Starting Techs: Hunting, Fishing

Flag:

For cities you could perhaps create a list of tribes from here.

OK, clarifications:

Most Australian aboriginies call themselves Aboriginies (with the exception of a few of tribes). It is the correct name for them.

When Europeans came to Australia, the aboriginies were at a Stone Age level of technology, ie less than Civ4's Barbarians.

That flag is the official Aboriginal flag. You see it flying here and there, sometimes next to the normal Australian one.

In southern Australia Aboriginals refer to themselves as koories and in the north they call themselves murrays I think. Recent archelology has revelead that kooris in Victoria were not nomads, built huts, built and farmed intricate fish and eel traps that equals if not surpasses todays practices.

True. I wasn't sure of this myself, so I checked up on it. The term aborigine comes from "aboriginal," and after Europeans began to refer to them coloquially as "aborigines," it slowly became a proper noun and the correct term for them.

Excellent. I was hoping something like that were true. And besides, even if it wasn't, I haven't seen such arguments against CivArmy's Tupi mod.

I wouldn't say that making eel traps qualifies any tribe for the title of "civilisation", but I guess the more mods the merrier!

Why expansive?
They were fairly spread out across Australia. And besides, why spiritual?

"Koori" is a good name, as opposed to Aborigines, methinks. Though personally, I would just put more barbarian cities in Australia.
