I've really enjoyed the recent changes to the tech trees, especially the changes to chopping and the 'other' tile improvements like the mills. However, I think the 'earthy' tech lines still feel like they're missing something to me; a good Wonder. There aren't any wonders in the construction line until the Aquae Sucellus at Sanitation (which can now be researched without Construction, IIRC). Wouldn't it make sense that civs investing so much research in construction technology would want to show it off with a big, impressive building?
I think Masonry would be a great place to put a new wonder. I consider the Masonry tech the red headed step child of the early tech tree at this point, useful only as a springboard to Construction. Forts are helpful, but Marble is a fairly weak resource, while Dungeons are horribly overpriced and only helpful in the late game, where I rarely build them.
Having convinced myself of the need, I began was the fun part; imagining what sort of Wonder to include . My first thought was that a building allowing the elusive Engineer specialist would be good fit, but as I started to develop the idea I realized it would be the 'Great Library of the Construction Line', a bit too redundant. My second idea was the Megalith, a huge tower that would give a large view radius and maybe some economic or happiness bonuses. But FFH2 is already riddled with Towers, and upon further inspection this would be the 'Deruptus Brewery of the Construction Line'.
My third Idea, the Necropolis, passed the redundancy test, has some dark fantasy flavor and also fits the concept of a massive, showy building. I've written up a short description for debate purposes, but even if the Necropolis gets panned I think that the game has room for a well crafted Wonder early in the construction tech line.
The Necropolis - What started out as a simple city graveyard grew into a massive structure of earth and stone, rising as high above the city streets and it dug beneath them. The Necropolis is a marvel to those who behold it, and some who dare to walk it's chilly corridors claim to hear the whispering of the dead.
Necroplis

Info: +2 in the city where it is built
- You Revere the Dead' diplomacy modifier with other civs (usually positive)
- 25% Chance units built in this city will have the Spirit Guide promotion
Cost: 350
Type: World Wonder
