Never heard of it. I figured it was a reference to John Cougar Mellencamp. Showing my age here. And yeah, John's song is better. :p

The song One Tree Hill by U2 was written in honour of a NZ roadie who died. One Tree Hill was a significant Pa in Auckland; which can still be visited today.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Tree_Hill_(song)

As others have mentioned, a Lord of the Rings reference. Mt Doom in LOTR is a combination of two NZ mountains, with Ngauruhoe making the base.
It would be nice if a catastrophic eruption actually looked a bit more like this!

    Mt Doom.jpg

Captain Planet - awful lol

Even better if you could keep it... the ice rink I mean :mischief:

    You mean all three... :p

Nah, I'm pretty sure they just thought A-Ha were Swedish.

Well its Christina singing in a song that is sampling A-ha song "Take on me". And the achievement is for Kristina (Win a game as Kristina), not for Sweden. I mean it would be kind of trolling. Probably its a mistake, but I guess anything is possible.

Or they mistook it for "Take a chance on me" by ABBA

Is the achievement really called “Smörgsbord”?

That’s not correctly spelled if so and I can’t see any reason for why it’d be intentional

    Source: I’m Swedish

Or… they knew A-Ha were not Swedish, and this is an elaborate, obscure pun to include in the achievement the near-heretic conversión of Kristina to Catholicism (here, she just converts to Norwiegan pop) :p

The most intriguing to me is Seahege… so, ¿can we have sunken wonders in the game?

Dammit, all I asked was for a "But You're Still Hungary" achievement for nerd stuff. Good thing you guys went with "Shield of Christianity," yeah, that's a really fun name for an achievement for frickin' Hungary.

Explain how you can arrive at that conclusion, and someone might be able to answer.

This is a lovely self-satire of a Civ V meme, so points there.

Ha, in German the achievement for winning with Kristina is "The World is my Småland"

Potato achievement seems rather difficult. There are only so many terrain orientations that allow a terrace farm and two cities exactly three hexes apart in the midst of 4 mountain tiles, so that the aqueducts can pin it in, especially since the terrace tile ALSO has to be a hill.

With the Ottoman achievement I don't know that I'll be able to resist having Istanbul AND Constantinople.

Probably just a reference to the real Seahenge:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seahenge

I think the Russian one must be pretty hard. The Russians can't even train hockey rinks, let alone capture cities with them.

Well if it is submerged doesn’t it become pillaged like districts and become unusable? Can they be lost when the tile is lost? Or do they just stay flooded untill u do something? Idk... I do know the civ reference  but I was just wondering since I heard other livestreamers ask these questions.

That's where the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is.

But "Hello Cleveland" is a reference to Spinal Tap.
