Activating a mod for MP? Possible?

I now have the expansion which includes the scenarios also as MODs. When I view the Empires of the Smoky Skies mod it says it is also a MP mod, and so I activate it. Is it possible to play with this in MP? I don't see it as a checkable option in my hosted game lobby, and the mods screen only has a "single player" option from it. This leads me to believe the mod really isn't MP compatible.

If this is possible though thanks for an answer how to set it up.
