If you add a unit, you may want to write up an entry for it in the civilopedia. This is not trivial, but neither is it difficult.

Assume we have copied a unit with the civ3copy tool. This adds it to the civ3mod.bic file, creates the unit folder and clones the animation sequences and sfx, but does nothing for the civilopedia. Edit the civilopedia entry in the unit edit screen to reflect what you want, ie, PRTO_My_Unit, for example.

In the text sub-folder, find the civilopedia.txt file and open it with notepad or some other text editor. Search for the unit you cloned and clone its entry, modifying the new text as necessary. Dont forget to change the #PRTO and #DESC keys in the unit description. By the way, there are still grammatical and spelling errors in the file, so have fun.

The civ3copy tool also sets the icon to whatever unit icon was cloned for the game, but the civilopedia needs to be directed to find its own. To do this, open the file pediaicons.txt in the text folder and search for the unit you cloned. Again, copy and paste the entry, and modify accordingly.

Now your modded units look "official".
