Here's the deal. I have created a new technology called "Military Reserve." I have successfully placed the technology in the tree after "military sciences."
The idea being that having achieved this technology, units "reserved" within friendly territory will not be subject to the maintenance cost -- with the long term goal of also (i) making "reserved" units unavailable for offensive combat within 10 turns of being reserved; and (ii) having a payment cost of activating reserved units. As it is now, unit maintenance costs for the middle and end game run very high, but I find myself not wanting to disband units with upgrades and still maintain a military for mostly defensive reasons (either because I've wiped most everyone off the map within a reasonable distance of myself.
So looking at the XML files, I can't figure out what it is that:
1. Places a new command button (e.g., below "fortify")
2. Triggers some function so that I can set its maintenance to 0g while it is reserved.
Any thoughts?
