Admin Password in 'game details'

May be a dumb questions, but what is the admin password in game details for and how come I don't remember setting one (which is probably why I always get "the password you entered is incorrect" when trying to type one in)?

Also, might this be the reason why my friend can't open the save game I sent him? He gets the "The save file you have selected is protected" note when trying to open it.

Further speculation: I tried sending my friend a custom game where I had locked the assets, so that the Worldbuilder couldn't be accessed. We think this is the reason why he could open it. Is there a way to 'trade' games where the Worldbuilder can't be accessed so as to prevent the temptation of cheating?

the admin password is there in order to protect assets (in MP game one can set it - the lock modified assets flag sets a long and random one).
the reason why another player can not open it is because his assets are in fact different. Are you both using the same patch version?

We thought we were, BtS 3.17 with the 3.17 unofficial patch. We just used the Civ assets checker and found out that he was missing a few files. Perhaps if I send him the asset files I have, we'll be on the same page and able to play an assets locked game.

Or maybe it's not that easy?

you could try that - but the best way to make sure is a clean install - it is possible that some files are hiding somewhere. First try your idea though. Then check if there are any more problems - if yes I could provide a howto for a truly clean reinstall... But it is a pain.

then do the following for a clean reinstall:

Uninstall and Reinstall Civ4 Warlords BtS :

Try to follow this order when doing stuff:
Use Control panel to uninstall Beyond the Sword, then Warlords, then Civ4
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
(note: application data is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files, also these directories in application data are sometimes removed by the uninstall routine)

(note: InstallShield Installation Information is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files).
Install Civ4, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here)
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here)
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.17 (download it fresh from here).
