We all know he's evil, but was he the Devil or had he become evil because of an abused childhood? If both, which one acts more?

my question is- dose it really matter?

I say childhood did it.

few, but most of them still carry more importance then a question such as this, after all, the man was evil, and there isnt much else to it

I don't supposed it does, which is the purpose it's in the OT forum ;)

But personally I think his childhood changed himself more than what his genes did, his mother died early and his father beat the son regularly, Hitler escaped his home when his dad didn't allow him to go to a school of art, then after applying himself to that school for two times and failing both, Hitler basically became a beggar, selling his art work to people on the street...

1. I've no idea

2. Xen - How could it not matter? If the actions of people like Hittler are a result of Environment rather than Genetic then it may have been possible to prevent it.

exactley- its kind of obvious that enviroment HAS to be, considering that we already know genes artn responsible for that type of behavior, and if you dont have a devil/satan, or even a figure along those lines in your religion, it kind of rukles out that option dosent it, as IMO, satan is a mere fairy tale

Not all believe Satan is a fairy tale. It's different anyway, though, since Satan is a fallen angel not a human.

i blame the internet

That's not possible. Al Gore invented the internet after WW2. ;)

He was a sociopath, plain and simple. He had paranoid delusions in his head which were amplified by the conditions in Germany post WWI.

He was a sociopath true enough, but not simple. A simple sociopath would pad his own nest, not try to take over the world. He felt himself to be the appointed avenger of Germany's shame at Versailles, and he worked very hard to that end. I suspect that Hitler, circa 1920, would be appalled by what happened to the Jews in 1945. The process was gradual, partly because of the God complex, and partly because of the people he surrounded himself with.

Remember, it was only after the assasination attempt, and the following purge, that the wholesale slaughter began. Up to that point most Jews, Gypsys and so on died of malnutrition related disease. Only in the last 8-10 months was there an attempt to kill everyone.

It is a traditional dichotomy. One person orders and action, but does not see the reality. Another person carries out the order, but relies on the order to salve his conscience.

I blame violent video games, child abuse, racism and in-utero crack addiction:lol: Adolph was born plain old nuts and later moved on to fullblown kookiness. I think the 'sane' people who followed his orders were even more evil than Hitler, an obvious wackjob from the word go.

Most of his anti-Semetic views came from the mayor of Vienna at the time of his adolescence (whose views probably came in turn from age-old Jew-hating prejudices), and he was able to combine these with the emerging science of eugenics to carry out his "evil"* plans. I don't know about his abused childhood, and in fact I thought I heard somewhere that that's a myth, but if it's true that he was abused it might have made a small--keyword: SMALL--contribution to his evilness.

*I put evil in "" because it's a little belief of mine that we can't objectively judge what is right and wrong, but going by my conscience--and most everyone else's--what he did was indeed not right.

No, genes can indeed contribute to mental disorders (or whatever the right word would be) such as Hitler's.

He was Austrian. There is a joke here that goes: "what is Austrias biggest achievement? - to make Hitler a German and Mozart an Austrian"

but he liked germany better, thats why he was in there army in WW1
