I have an HP dv7 Pavilion Entertainment Notebook w/ Intel Core i7 Quad Core 1.6GHz, 6 GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GT 230M w/ 1GB VidRAM and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I am currently playing version 1.0.0.167 without any mods.
So after not playing for almost 2 months, I decided to try and fire CiV back up and see what 2 months worth of patches had accomplished.
Not much apparently.
I opened the game, chose Japan in Basic Setup and then clicked on Advanced Setup. The game then proceeded to crash, leaving the screen unchanged, but everything frozen with the "CivV has stopped working" dialogue box in the background, only accessible via alt-cntrl-del and starting the task manager, then forcing CivV to close.
This is the same exact type of bug that I was experiencing back with 1.0.0.20, so I guess I'll go back to playing Dragon Age: Origins now, which is a fantastic RPG (probably the best I've ever played, and I play a lot of them) and is also almost bug-free.
Sorry if this post is a little bitter and rambly, but I can't help but feel I got screwed by Firaxis/2kGames on this, and I'm tired of being nice about it.
I hope this bug gets fixed some year, I may or may not find out about it.
