Welcome to the fourth adventure of the Vietnamese! :D This time our hero is Nguyen Phuc Chu, who extended the south Vietnam land to a state nearly as today. He'll compete against 16 leaders on a large Continents map. The speed has been set to Marathon, so it will be even more than epic. This is the pre-game settings:

No barbarians is turned on. It leads to our starting position:

Hmm, lots of food & no happiness yet. We'll have to scout around:

Hello my (tech) buddy, Mansa Musa! Are we better than the Malinese in the demo?

Well, can't deduce much from it. Meeting people yields better views:

So Roosevelt is the one leading the American. Meanwhile, let's peak at Timbuktu:

What a golden food heaven! Far to the east we saw Louis:

Well, your dress is good, but it lacks some precious jewelery like this:

Now we took the chance to see Paris before it becomes impossible to do so:

Why they all have rivers except our capital? Even Washington has a tiny one:

That's a hilled capital, so someone will need a large army to win it. It's a bit lucky we managed to see the American city because it's on a hill. Otherwise our neighbor's whereabouts will be a mystery, & that's bad for our planning. See you in the next episode, where a first religion will appear on Earth...

Just curious, what mod are you using? What is Vietnam's UB and UU?

    Oh, and interesting start.;)

Now what are the other leader's opinion when they see Washington?

Did Capy said “Wonderful” after seeing that capital? :crazyeye: Or maybe he's refering to London:

Vicky has founded Hinduism. Meanwhile, we're speaking ill of Louis...

We don't know what Fred's capital looks like, since he's creative. But Capy's not.

Ah hah, finally maybe another so so city like our Ha Noi :) But this one's even worse:

Kudos to Kublai for expanding fast. However, before Iron working it's a bad move.

Karakorum, on the other hand, is at a really sweet spot, considering our position:

Second culture expanding, yet we still haven't got the Cow on :( How about 2nd city?

Darn, we lost it to Vicky. We'll need to find more pretty spots for settling...

However, our scout has been trapped by Monty & Fred!! Another one is almost, too

There's 3 Gold sources for Kubly right there. However, with no significant food resources that city won't get him to anywhere...

Thanks :) I'm running the Vietnam 1.4 mod. Since it's Vanilla, there's no UB, but I'm planning to do a BtS version soon, if I got help from those kind people on this forum. The UU is No lien chau - the original form of the Chokonu, but way earlier & a bit weaker - they stole from us after one of their defeat! Well, we have to admit that the Chinese can copy virtually anything

Now that the game is approaching the first 100 turns, it's time to look at some graphs to see what the Vietnamese have done is good enough. Or not :crazyeye: First the GNP graph:

Vicky is the monopolist here. We're not the worst, but in the following graph...

We're dead last in term of production. How about the crop yield?

This time Louis is leaving everyone else behind. We'll need more food with the 2nd city:

Hochiminh city is lacking food, but our choices are limited. What're the others doing?

Even Saladin has his 2nd city up long ago. The Incan, too:

Well, that's a lot of luxury. We can't fall back too far, it's time for the 3rd city!

Darn, we lose a good spot to Roosey, hence this crappy place. Meanwhile, in France:

Paris has copper! Other cities have bunch of things! They even repress Manny:

Timbuktu has horses & another city will have copper! Things are becoming interesting. Will Manny thrive with his Financial trait, or he will get enough of that 'French culture' & explode in a rain of skirmishers' spears onto Lou's well dressed head? We'll see...

Ah, so you wrote the mod yourself?

Nice so far, and I hope there are some axemen in the future for Roosevelt. :mwaha:

Yes, however I did include the HOF mod inside it ;) Well, surely Roosey will have to see some axemen, but it's a bit later when we've accumulated enough units. Manny is too overpowered in the early game with his Skirmishers. So naturally Vicky will be visited by Chu's army first hand. You'll agree with me when you see the American's land:

Well, they too have all the stuffs. & did we say anything about the Romans?

Caesar will have Copper in a matter of time. In the mean time, his power is...

Already on top :( We won't want to share borders with him. In the culture graph:

Phew, Rome's at the bottom. Now what units does Chu have in his hands?

Oops, a mere number of 3 military units? We'll need better relationships, then.

1615BC is a religious turn, now that 2 civs turn to Hinduism with Vicky. Talk about her...

The 1st war in history has begun!! But our target is not York...

4 archers defending the holy Hinduism city against a small force of our elites. The result?

Now we have a religion! The critical objective has been achieved, but Victoria still has 2 cities left & is able to make a deadly retaliation blow anytime! We can't stop here yet, despite the men are deeply wounded. We'll have to push forward until we're not able to do it anymore. Or are we already? We'll see in the next episode!! :D

Then what do you expecting when we have only enough room for 3 cities, one among them a crappy site :) Once at war, Chu will be as ruthless as possible - that's why he's present at the siege of Nottingham:

The city falls, but we're exhausted. That's why we stop here & look back on our land:

Our city count has doubled! :goodjob: However the war did have some impact:

We got some -1 from some guys. Now the strongest ones are not even the ones we met:

See? 3 out of 5 big cities are in a different continents. Meanwhile, on our own continent:

That's the turn of 2 wars! 1 is obviously Louis on Manny. The other, you can guess ;)

Well, what I mean with above picture is that Monty has declared on Fred!

& suddenly Washington is set on fire. Now is there any threat from warring with Roosey?

OMG  Oh Ceasy, what did you mean there... Anyway, we can't stop now:

That crappy place once being Philadelphia is burned down to ashes. & if your eyes are keen enough, you'll see New York city has changed its tile's color to a lovely pink shade :D That's the punishment on the American for stealing our sweet spot near Boston. Stupid Roosey, he even built the city on a foodless site  Just one tile NW & he could have gotten the pig...

What...? Did you mean the last post doesn't have any pictures? I'm seeing them clear here... Anyway, I'll make sure this one contain images alright.
We were talking about that stupid Roosevelt. He made us produce a settler just to build a city next to his last burning site:

Goodbye Roosey. But just as this war is over, Fred pops up:

2 on 1! Anyway, it's just a phoney help from Chu. Because he has some work to finish:

Farewell, Vicky. We'll keep the jewellery for you. Now let's take a look at our land:

9 cities :D That's 3 times our original built cities. What does the domestic advisor say?

The Vietnamese sure are very healthy ^^ Their cuisine is even better than the French...

Oops, not a French city. Now Marseilles serves Caesar salad. Not something you can find in Mongol:

The Mongols are posing a threat to London with 4 cities surrounding it! Meanwhile, at Washington:

Three food resources & a bunch of hills, this former capital can make a beautiful hammer hub ;) Besides, it's providing our settlements with free obelisks, which is another lovely thing. But right now, the people here is concentrating on giving birth to a great person, a special single individual that can change the fate of the Vietnamese in a good way :goodjob: We'll just have to wait...

While it's ironically true to some extent, please be informed that the Vietnam war is far from over :D It can be called more accurately as the American war ^^
Yeah that's where we're heading. Nice of you for knowing our leader's characteristics ;) This is a picture of our attacking forces for you:

We'll see lots of sword slashing. But first you'll want to know about the religious situation:

33% of world pop is in our sight :) That's quite some feat. Now back to the war:

New Sarai is captured. Can you guess what will be the next?

Ning hsia. Those 2 sites are lightly defended. Now we're approaching the tough ones:

Beshbalik is at a decent spot. Now the war is taking a toll on us:

+/- 0 at 100% gold! How can we research now :crazyeye: But Chu doesn't want to stop:

Karakorum the lovely capital of the Mongolian has fallen under our hands! Time to rest?

Nope, our leader just let the soldier enough time to heal their wounds before moving to Old Sarai. It's a bit lucky here we managed to lure an opponent swordsman out of the city, so no more 50% bonus for him :mischief: Anyway, the city falls that turn, swordless or not. Now finally Chu orders peace treaties (yeah, treaties :p) to rearrange his tattered army... In the next episode: will the Vietnamese be able to ever recover their critical economy? :nuke: Or it'll be a total collapsing of the system?

You're gonna need the Great Lighthouse, the Temple of Artemis, or the Colossus to get out of this...
