AENIGMA01 - C3C Training on Monarch - Conq/Dom

BTW TC, forgot to offer kudos for the SoZ build. Good call. Will make the Zulu war alot more interesting and it is cheap core culture with a military kicker. We are going to be pointy-sticking our way through this one until we can get some better ground to work with.

Well, you did say to build the SoZ in Chichen. Well, you said ToZ, which could have been a typo for Temple of Artemus OR Statue of Zeus. I don't like the ToA, as those maintence-free temples disappear after it becomes obsolete, unless you build them yourself. Plus, SoZ provides free, fast units, something we need in this shield-poor land.

What you thought you heard me say was not what I meant at all....

Actually I was using the "S"oZ as a placeholder while the forest chop was going on as I wanted to make sure the 10 shields went to the settler build at Copan. But you made the right choice, not shifting back to a horseman build.

Oh, I must not have read that carefully enough. Besides, the SoZ is a steal at a build of just 19 turns. Limitless AC > 4 horsemen, assuming they take 4 turns to build.

T0

Wow, looking good. Gonna aim to take the bottom city (Texcoco, since it'll give more food)

T1 510 BC
Moving horse in place for whupping.
Lux up to 20% for happiness (Palenque). Will get more MP there soon.

IBT
Trying to starve Tenochtitlan, but it rioted. Hm... Mebbe I don't really know what to do to starve a city properly...

T2 490 BC
Moving some units around for MP, etc.
Going to wait to see if Texcoco will gain pop before killing it. Also, thinking of pop rushing with Tenoch. Double duty to lower pop and make settler if I just kill Texcoco :)

T3 470 BC
Yay, hooked up silks! Everyone's happy! Going to lower lux.
Whipped us a settler. Ready to use next turn :)
Attack!
Bombard failed
Bombard succeeded.
Hm... I'll take my chances, since this will be the last town that we war against (leaving Teot to Zulus)
Vet Horse runs over 3hp Spear! Takes 2 hits, but becomes stronger!
Let's see if another Vet horse has the same luck...
Semi lucky. Spear fought valiantly and took horse to 1 hp... But our horses are just too strong.
Town is liberated, but self razed. Got 8 gold.

Wow. Crazy Aztecs build on top of a wheat! I think I will use the settler to found a city 1 N to take advantage of the wheat. Will lose the use of a whale, but I think wheat is better.

Will aim to weaken Teot for the Zulus.

One thing I don't understand: I thought granaries stop working after you hit pop 7? Or is it only that they empty out, but continue to work? I remember playing games in the past where each city with a granary behaved differently... Weird as hell...

Oh, just checked how long till our MA runs out with Zulus: 7 turns. At this rate, the zulus won't even be able to get to Aztecs. We can just not renogotiate it, and take the last Aztec town when MA is finished.

There's an Aztec galley swimming away along our west coast. It's going pretty far, so we may have some hunting to do later. Or someone else will do the dirty deed for us :)

Lux moved to 10%.

Looking at the trading screen, Inca got currency (forgot to check every turn, so dunno when that happened). Going to test the water for prices.
Okie... 26gpt + gold. Uh... No.

Almost everyone has Monarchy. Let's see how much it is. I don't know if anyone's going for Republic, since no one has Code of Laws yet, and some has construction already. Maybe we should think about Monarchy?

Ame, Iro, and Inca are all ripping us off at: 16 gpt + 267 gold

Even construction is cheaper...

IBT
Zulu kills a barb horse for us.

T4 450 BC
Well, well. Inca got CoL. Mebbe they ARE going for republic.
Oh damn. I really screwed up the Settler build... I forgot settlers take more food after whipping. Damn. Damn. Damn. :wallbash: So much for those settlers.... Going to switch to something else I guess... Well, at least the Zulus aren't bringing any settlers with them...

T5 430 BC
Hm... Aztec sent out an archer. Cats dropped it to 1 hp... Should I use the elite to see if we get a GL? I'll wait a bit before deciding...
Ah, what the hell.
Well, no luck.
Moved another horse to reinforce. Going to move back soon.
Hm... Zulu also got CoL. Prolly from Incas... No, wait. Their gold didn't really drop...

T6 410 BC
Yay, SoZ is built!
Aztec galley got too close to catapults :) Hit it for 2 hp!. Debating whether to switch Tenoch to galley to finish him off... Nah.
Well, they're passing CoL around like... Well, y'know. Only Iroquois doesn't know it. I'll check prices. But since they only got CoL in 450, they shouldn't be close to Rep. yet...

150 for Phil, 200 for CoL. I'll wait.
Monarchy is still high priced: ~10 gpt and 350 gold or so.

Ack! Another newbie mistake. I irrigated a grasslands up near Palenque!!! D'oh! Sorry for the sloppiness guys... Grr....

Chichen going to build a couple of swords meanwhile in prep for next war (since still full of jungle/etc.)

IBT
Gally lands settler and archer... Right where their last town was. Okie... Free workers for us...

T7 390
Worker time!
Damn, no GL.
Killing barb around area also.
Hm... a barb camp. Will kill it next turn.
Connected road with Zulu. Can trade it wines for 80gold. I decline.

Plan:
Use Copan to build a settler after granary builds. Use settler to found city in old Aztec land.

T8 370 BC
Kill barbs for 25 gold.

T9, 10
zzzzzz....

I left some workers open for moves. Next player can use them as they want.

Next Steps:
Trade! Need to figure out how to do trading! Republic may have arrived. Don't know. We have a few towns, so support shouldn't be too bad. Of course, more cities will be good.

I have some towns building improvements. Next player may want to switch them. Please explain why also, as I tend to not know what to build after a certain while...

Situtation looks like it is almost time to wipe Zulus out.
:)

Before I play, do we have peace with aztecs? (I'm totally lost here)

Still at war with Aztecs. Wait for alliance to end, then kill 'em.

Move any new troops to the northern front.

And it is defintiely time to take aim on the Zulu. Starting at Isandlahwana.

This is starting to look mre and more like a go to conquest mode, now!, kind if situation.

Turnlog will be here soon.

(Somehow I cant edit my previous post  )
So here it is, sorry that it took so long.

Press enter.

310BC(turn1): Only movement. Currency is out, but too expensive for now.

290BC(turn2): We destroyed the Incan. Getting ready to smack on zulus.

270BC(turn3): Movement.

250BC(turn4): Movement. Settler ready next turn.

230BC(turn5): Movement. Rallying troops to border.

210BC(turn6): Barb redlines our vet horse Buy Construction for 280g, we could buy Currency, but it would take all our treasury.

190BC(turn7): Movement again, I boot zulus.

170BC(turn8): As above. Abandon Teotihuacan. Build better city in same place.

150BC(turn9): Movement again.

130BC(turn10): Movement, you should be able to srike soon, but our catapults will be next to useless since there is no roads.

Palenque, finished granary, set it to barracks. We can use it to workerpump later

What is the reason behind abandoning Teotihuacan?

Yes, it was built in bad place, wasting good tiles.

Got it... :)
It's just your original statement was "Build better city in same place".
And i took it literally same place=same tile.

Whack a Zulu, d-man.

Yeah I wasn't very clear there :P

I officially "have it" and will try to play tonight.

EDIT: Sorry didn't play "tonight", but for tomorrow this game is THE priority.
