AENIGMA01 - C3C Training on Monarch - Conq/Dom

Pre-turn:
Why would we waste time mining wheat way outside of city borders when we don't even have a settler build to send that way and there are much better tasks to do like roading for example. 4 more slaves are mining hill near Lazapa.
What for??? That mine won't give us anything.
We have irrigated grassland near Tikal... We are in despotism, remember????
Rule #1 - Do not irrigate grass in despotism unless very special circumstances.

We don't have many workers and we really have to think how to utilize them better...
Okay.... Time to check AIs... I certainly see a clear way to push us into MAs right now, but that will also upgrade most of the AIs to MAs.
Well, I'd rather do it now while I have opportunity to get it all for the minimum money spent.
Incas are the only ones who have Currency... I can buy currency then trade it around for the rest of techs.
So, lets do it.... We buy currency from Incas for 499Gold and 9gpt.
Go to Shaka... Sold currency for CoL and 84Gold
Go to Lincoln. Sold currency for Philosophy and 3 gold
Go to Iro. Bought Monarchy in exchange for Currency, CoL and Philo + 15Gold
I am going back to Shaka and bought Construction for Monarchy.
Bam! We are in MAs and so every other AI except Aztecs. :-) With the price tag of only 9gpt and some 450 cash.

Yet, I still have undone business with Shaka to do. I cancel our MA against Aztecs.
Oops... that's not enough… Go back to Shaka and politely asked to remove his ugly, fat bottom from our territory. Moving troops to attack last Aztec city next turn.
Ha Ha.... I forgot something - Barbarian Uprisings.... We will see some major activities in a turn or two for sure.

T1. 310BC And indeed - barbarians showed up... 16 horses near Calakmul. I think I will let them to suck the city.
Attack last standing Aztec city. Kill 2 defenders with no losses and Aztecs are left only in history books.

T2. 290BC. re-arranging workers. Moving troops and thinking what to do with Barbs. I will definitely let them to suck our city. We have only around 100Gold. It is much less painful and I don't have troops in any case to send for help... There are no roads in that part of the world.

IBT. 16 Barb horses sucked Camakmul

T3. 270BC Mostly worker actions

IBT. Zulu are taking care of barbarians for us.

T4. 250BC Worker actions. Copan settler->settler.

T5. 230BC. Worker actions and troop movements.

T6. 210BC same as above

T7. 190BC. same as above. Boot zulu off our territory. War declaration next turn.

T8. 170BC. Declare on Zulu... They have most of their army just outside of our borders... Dispersed most of it... Only couple of Zulu archers left. Moving to columns into zulus land. Incas have Feudalism. i was hoping they would come up with Republic first.. That was why i didn't revolt to monarchy.

IBT. Zulu Archer redlines our horse, we retreat. Another zulu archer attacks our sword and dies.

T9. 150BC. Capture Intombe. So far we lost only one horse. Zimbabve should fall next turn. After capturing Zimbabve split military column in two parts. One goes west another goes east to finish Zulus off. I mm-ed Chichen to produce 15spt. That is exactly one horse or one sword each 2 turns... leave it that way, don’t change.

I will stop here to round our turn date.

Have nice warmongering!

Dman, how can you end your turnset to 150BC, if mine ended at 130BC? :o

So do I play now? dman, are you going to start again with Zavior's save? I'm confused....

D'oh, you can continue from Dman's turnset. I didn't play very well I think :P

:ack: OOpsy... I am going to join Admiral K's league of idiots....
I have no idea how i have managed to open previous save  .

I am sincerely sorry about that...
What are we going to do?

Well I just went from dman's turnsets since that is what Zavior suggested...

turnset highlights

t1 130BC-Zimbabwe falls losing 1 horsemen
Horses go north; AC & swords go west
t2 110BC-Copan settler-> horseman
t3 90BC-Bapedi falls 4 more to go
Isandhlwana falls 3 more
t4 70BC-Ulundi falls 2 more
Mpondo almost taken
t7 10BC- Mpondo fell (had to wait on other horses) 1 more city to go

I was amassing troops near the Vitcos border. The Incans aren't too happy with us and they are probably going to start a war soon. They have been annoyed with us for a while and a 9gpt deal will expire next turn. They currently have 4 wonders under construction and our military advisor says we have a strong military in comparison.

Lincoln & Incans will trade Republic for 13gpt + 386g. Incans won't trade Fued yet.

That last Zulu city has been giving me fits. I have an elite AC, vet AC, & elite horse 2 away. I've also been giving the Iroquois the boot order with the settler pair near Mpondo.

Save from 50 AD

Looks like you did pretty good cleaning Zulu's land...
Incas are next with all their wonders and feud...
Beware of MDI's though.

Got the save, will play later

0) 50: Upgrade a couple warriors to swords. Looks like we hit Incas next.

1) 70: Lagartero harbor-->spear. Copan horse-->sword. Uaxactun built, start Jav. Barb camp near Lagartero cleared out. Declare war and move units on Vilcos. Hlobane is destroyed.

2) 90: Archer from Vitcos kills a lone horse. Fine, remove your defenders. Vitcos is taken.

3) 110: Move units around to take Cori. Mayans have units heading toward Mpondo.

4) 130: Mpondo taken, archer redlined. Palenque settler-->settler, Tenochtitlan temple-->jav. Cori taken, got a leader! Spear takes Mpondo back. Iroquois have a spear and settler nosing around between Mpondo and Bapedi. Uaxactun roaded.

5) 150: A barb kills my settler. My bad.

6) 170: Leader heads back to Vitcos to form an Ancient Army.

7) 190: Try to pointy stick research on Incas. Need to hammer 'em some more. Cuello built.

8) 210: We attack Andahuaylas to NE. Kill spear, but horses wounded. Have to regroup.

9) 230: Yaxchilan swordsman-->swordsman. Abe offers us Lit for 120. I take it. Cori riots, need to keep one unit in as MP.

10) 250: Iroquois ally with Inca against us. The third Ancient joins the army and it rolls toward Arequipa, an Incan town founded next to Hlobane ruins. Build an embassy in America, they are 19 from Hanging Gardens. Abe will ally with us vs. Iroquois for 140, I leave that decision to the team.

I think that allying with Abe is a good idea. It gives the Iroquois a 2 sided front and they'll more than likely decide to fight with the closest foe. That way we can just concentrate on the Incans.

Why are we building Javelin throwers? Do we want our Golden Age right now? Aren't we still in despotism?

Bede is playing next and old friar will know what to do ;)

Captain, please do better job updating the roster ;)

Got it, youngster.

Crush 'em all, say I.

First battle has this result:

AE01_260.jpg

Ally with Abe against Iro and march west and north.

AE01_260_01.jpg

AE01_260_02.jpg

Machu Picu falls to our horses and swords, keep the city long enough to build an army and load it with swords. Play WhackIro and PuntInca with archers and settlers and collect a few more slaves.

Burn Akwesane in the far northeast.

Iro take Vitcos but we take it back next.

The Empire at 350:
AE01_350_01.jpg

The sword army and cats are marching on the next little Inca ville. The AC army is escorting a settler to the coast. A sword and spear are escorting another to the SE of the AC army. And there is a third wandering around out there somewhere. The force that captured Akwesane is heading west again. Most of the towns have been spawning settlers to fill in the holes and extend the borders west and north.

Chichen is building the Heroic Epic.

Iro and Inca have no iron or horses connected to their capitols. Abe has iron but no horse connnected to his. The map shows iron and horses near the Iro town of Allegheny.

Our only problem now is that we are running short of effective offense and our productive towns are far from the front. Other than that I see no reason to make any peace treaties. We may want to slow the tempo of the advance a llittle to consolidate the northern marches and move swords, horses and Javs into the fight.

If we keep the pressure on we may end this one before the High Middle Ages. :nya: without ever leaving Despotism :wow:
