Dear CivFanatic

I have been working on a tate of the art Civilazation II Scenario , this takes Civilazation Further to nearly Realtime, or as close as you can get to it. This Scenario will be updatable daily , sso whatever happens in Afganistan , the Scenario is updated , so you play in nerly realtime.

The Grphics will be all changed , TERRAIN.GIF , some of the DLL's and more. THe Units will be super-accurate nad will also be updatable.

This Scenario Takes Civilazation II further , It is so intrsting that I NEED YOUR HELP  , any help will be appretiated !

I voted yes as well as no, because as much as I think you're being creative and innovative, I think you've found a way too ambitious project for this creativity. I have a difficult time seeing that you can possibly succeed. How will you *know* what goes on in Afghanistan? You never can. It is a falsum from the outset.

I'd rather see something that is a little more well-thought thru and carried thru, than this. Perhaps with a little more thought to, WHY you need to carry out this project? What is it that you want to say or show off with it? Why this supposedly "realtime" fancy with a "turnbased" strategy game?

You see , I have planned this for a some time , the idea of an updatable scenario came into my head ages ago , but I could never make it real. A few failed attempts at apanzer scenario made it worse , I needed something unique. This is it , you have your views I have mine , only time will tell who is right ! I think some of your suggestions are very intresting and you do have a point there.

 Dont insult my scenario !

Thanks

You like a good critisising , its because its a challenge and its hard to do. You can always make something intresting out of something boring , thats civ !:D

Civ3 is coming out in 14 days. Shouldn't you wait and make a Civ3 scenario instead? ;)

The problem with such a scenario is that you don't get all the news about the war in Afhanistan.you can't really know what happens everyday in the war since a lot of things are kept secret. But please explain to me how such a realtime scenario would work.

It wwould be a good idea to make it on Civ 3 , I agree , but I' dont really know what differences are there between them , is Civ 3 better in the fact that its AI is better? I just havent a clue. Civilazation 2 is a great game , it will stay popular for a long time !

I think my idea is a bit boring , its probably not very intresting in the fact that its a bit short maybe I should divide each day into sections ? When the conflict is over I'll make it into a historical Scenario

What do you think abot dividing the day into sections?;)

Dear Sir/Madam

Introduction

I have been working on my ground-breaking new scenario for Civilazation II, and if I have time
maybe Civilazation III. (As suggested by Thunderfall)This Scenario is based on the conflict in Af
ganistan going on at this very moment. This scenario will include an easy update , here is how it
works.

Diagram

*You download the starter V1.0
*Automatically during installation the scenario will put in a Windows handler
*Every 48hours the computer will remind you to go to ny website to automatically update
this will not take long as the files are updated smartly 1 by 1 and some dont have to be
updated.
*Every 28days I will release a major version with many changes.

Versions

0.9.0 BETA 1st of November
0.9.5 BETA 10th of November
0.1.0 ALPHA 20th of November

The Game

The game will include state of the art units and situations everything will be as real as it can be
and this will be tested in the two BETA versions , I've nearly finished one. Some great detail
is to go into these scenarios.

The Consept

It is fairly obvious , but not to all , that the talliban soldiers would have more chance of winn
ing , as they have better training in the wilderness. It will include good simulaions of Talliban u
rest in surrounding countries , as I say the scale is huge , every turn means only 6 hours so the scale
of the map is also obvious.

Well ya know I think that the Afganistan Scenario should be about what YOU would do, given the chance. Obviously you'll want a custom unit for Mr Bin Laden and several unique units for leaders of the Taliban.
Then you'll need graphics for Shilkas and tanks left over from the Soviet invasion but you'll have to know that the Taliban can't produce these weapons, therefore the Shilkas (Give AEGIS capability) and misc Soviet arsenal can't be produced. BUT the Taliban side CAN produce fighters and perhaps the odd yet mighty Toyota pickup truck of the Afgan army! ;)
But with the US forces, you'll need Spec. Op forces that can paradrop and you'll probably want graphics for US tanks, troops, aircraft, perhaps those flying howitzers which are just so kick ass! :D
AND there is the Northern Alliance and several other resistance factions in Afganistan which you have to take into account PLUS neighboring countries. So there'd be Pakistan, US Forces, Taliban, Northern Alliance, Misc. Factions, Iran, Usbekstan (or whatever it's named) which fits pretty much into the max number of Civs for Civ 2.
But yeah, that's what I'd suggest if you were to make an Afganistan Scenario. It's gotta be detailed and such to be successful.
But believe me, this won't be any small undertaking. I've made quite a few scenarios and it isn't as easy as it may sound. Finding the right graphics and putting in the right event times is difficult.
Oh yes! You might like to put in events! Like if you capture (or kill) Mr Bin Laden you can have an event at random that says either the terrorist organization crumbles without a leader OR say that hijackers of a jumbo jet want Mr Bin Laden released OR say that due to the death of Bin Laden that, oh I don't know, two suitcase nukes from the Cold War era detonate in New York and Washington D.C or some other terrorist attack.
