Hopefully, we will come to find that allegations of widespread abuse at Gitmo have been totally false and spread simply to discredit to USA.

Well, imagine that. Of course, I expect a whole lot of denial and paranoia to be flung towards this.....

Let it begin...

I'll go first:

Wow thats surprising indeed. A delegation from the American puppet government declares the American run prison is humane? Right after a batch of suicides? (ie: Public relations nightmare). Shocking.

All this of course is assuming you can ever call indefinite incarceration without trial "humane".

Compared to Bagram, I'm sure Gitmo's "humane".

So, when are the US going to let people inspect the base who aren't wholly dependent on foreign aid ? The Red Cross doesn't count - they don't publicize their findings as a matter of principle.

Not sure why I bother responding to this btw - anyone pre-emptively declaring people disagreeing to be paranoid and in denial is either completely uninterested in discussion or just projecting.

But of course, if anyone says Gitmo is "humane" they must indeed be American puppets.

Honestly, in my opinion, the real truth is somewhere in the middle. Its certainly not a rose garden, but I dont think those in Gitmo are being outright tortured either.

Yeah I know but I couldn't help myself.

You know MobBoss if you added a link to say a FOX News article. You'd get more of the reaction your looking for.

RedWolf: I didn't catch your reply before posting, sorry. I was responding directly to MobBoss.

It'd be more credible if an internationally recognized delegation inspected it. Because honestly, do you really expect the current Afghan government to badmouth America?

But yes MobBoss, anyone who disagrees with the Afghan Inspection must be paranoid or America-haters!

Only "one or two complaints" among 96 prisoners? Somehow, I doubt that. I would respect a UN investigation, not so sure about this one, for all the reasons previously stated.

Perish the thought.

Of course it's not 'outright' torture.
It's a specially brewed up version, let's call it only 'neocon' torture.
Or torture 'lite'.

That's why, currently and until the light dawns once more,
..you are only 'current American' civilised.

I expect that the Afghan delegation has the right and ability to say whatever the hell it wants to the Associated Press.

Actually, the Afghans were given T-shirts once their visit concluded that said:

"My mullah went to Six Flags over Guantanmo and all I got was this water-board stained T-shirt!"

In all fairness, if we let the Afghans visit and make a proclimation, how about the French? Then they could both go on one of those CNN/FOX political babble point-counter-point shows and BOY OH BOY!

And the IRC declared Theresienstadt Concentration Camp as a healthy place.

Your point is?

Brilliant post. Hilariously silly first line, but a very sensible and laudable final paragraph that hopefully no-one disagrees with. Good work :goodjob:

Mobboss you are so silly lol

We often disagree on most issues, but I'll agree with you on this one.

I don't think they are outright tortured either - but I wouldn't be surprised if some questionable things were going on @ Gitmo.

As for the Afghan report, doesn't that seem like a rather questionable source to you? Why the Afghans? Send in somebody who is bound to be a little bit more critical and see what they say.

I bet the puppet government of Manchukuo would think the Death Railway in Burma to be a safe workplace with happy, well paid employees.

(For example...)
