I am just finishing up the 3rd turn and we have hit 500 cities! Only 12 enemy civs exist; 7 Chinese, and 5 Greek.

I have been always wondering how we could know the total number of cities we have. Apparently the answer is that we count cities that do NOT belong to us.

Ok, sounds good. Any specific requests for pictures? I was going to show the final two battle grounds, and the screen that shows your (rank in/amount of) population, amount produced, etc. for the last turn.

[Edit: If any lurkers have picture requests, then go ahead and post and I will see what I can do]

I think just all the F* screens would be good to have. ;)

Aggie, bad news for you (but not for me), "C3C demigod" no longer brings up AG3 on google. LK65 is there instead. :D

Hey, it sounds good to me. :D
Not the first time LK series has show up. ;)

Progress Report:
Well I didn't quite finish by 1645. There were 2 chinese cities that were distance 4 from the rest of the empire. Five greek cities were destroyed in 1645 so the Greeks are no more. This is a good thing as they were giving us a lot of WW (In fact, I didn't cycle ahead (It being pretty much all over) when WW got worse - it is probably the first game I have ever played where over 100 cities went into disorder in a single turn!)

There are 2 MA Armies poised outside of the gates for every defender in the city. It will end next turn. I will finish this tonight and post the picks.

1625 AD: I think Microbe will get to do something though I am not sure. In any case I think I will start working on China. It looks like RJ left me several attacks on their city lined up and ready to go.

I decide its time. I go to the dictator of china and call him a wobbly-kneed wombat with the personality of a diseased yak. Its war! :hammer: :hammer:

I attack Greece. I keep the city with the bombers and airport. I think I will be building an airfield though so a flip cannot hurt me.

I hope we weren't saving that 26 thousand gold for anything... because I spent it all - Rushed Mass Transit in every major city.

Note that I would not have chosen wealth over mass transit. Cleaning pollution is a bore and wealth is really not very useful (I would have chosen MA over wealth too - were we worried about unit count?).

Greek
Raze 2 cities. Forgot to note the names. Rebuild new ones

China:
Capture Orenburg
Capture Chinen
Capture Kaefing

Zulu

The zulu have been destroyed.

IBT: Many Mass transit systems built

1630 AD
China

Capture Macao
Capture Poatin
Capture Tientsin
Capture Tsingtau
Capture New Shanghai

Greek
Destroy Mycanea and one other city. (Rebuild Elsewhere
Capture Sparta

IBT: A greek contingent I didn't notice takes Madrid and Barcelona. A problem with these huge maps.

1635 AD:

Greek:
Madrid recaptured.
Capture Delphi
Most armies healing

China
Capture Beijing
Capture Canton
Capture New Canton
Capture Chengdu
Capture Xinjian

1640 AD:

Greek
Units healing and moving. No cities captured.

China
Capture Shanghai
Capture Anyang
Capture Hangchow

Here is what the war looks like:

IBT: WW causes mass riots.

Chengdu flips to china

1645 AD:

Attack and destroy the final 5 Greek cities The Greeks are no more

Chengdu recaptured.
Ningpo captured
Nanking chaptured

The final two cities are out of range. There are about 3 MA Armies for each defender.

IBT: To end the game with a bang

My guess is that I was still supressing resistance.

1650 AD:
Capture the Final two Chinese cities. Finis.

Notes:

Well I was right that we would finish before 2050  I didn't expect it to end this early though. Even without the faster boat movement, we wouldn't won that long after 1750 AD I don't think.

Fun game but a bit time consuming. Not something you want to do every day. :D

Aggie, are you going to try a map this size for one of your OCC games?

Note the time is negative. I went back to see the times (retiring) and am guessing the time wraps at about 600 hours so the real time is around 700 hours total.

My guess is that the max time is 2^21 seconds ~ 582 hours 32.5 minutes. That would be aproximately 673 hours 41.5 minutes

:rotfl:

It's only fitting to thank you all for an awesome display of team spirit, endurance and optimism. :worship:
Not only did we play with a lot of skill and patience, the discussions were also great.

Highlight of this one for me was the fact that we decided to go for a conquest victory, despite the fact that the turns were already starting to slow down. There have been moments when I thought that I was asking to much (interturns of 3 hours!!), but we just kept on going and went the extra mile.

The 30 civ dogpile on the Hittites was also a golden moment :D This in hindsight may have been the reason for a drastic slowdown of the tech research pace of the AI, allowing us to win it like this!

I am very happy to see that we were able to conquer the world with conventional weapons and keeping our rep intact. There were doubts that we could avoid a space race win of the AI or make it before 2050 AD, but we did!
I will probably NEVER organize a CIV3 362x362 with 31 civs again though! A 2nd try can never match this experience.

EDIT: I am now starting up the Summary Replay :crazyeye:

Yep. Thanks all for the experience. Once in a lifetime is right. Although I appreciated the opportunity of playing this with you all, I'm never touching this size map again (unless I get small mainframe machine to run it on!)
:goodjob: to everyone!
(Now I know for sure that all my fellow Civ3 players are slightly anal-retentive and have no normal social lives!) ;)

Hey, let's stick with those nice small maps. See LK65 for an example. ;)

Thank you all too for the team's dedication to this monster game. It was a great experience. Despite it being very time-consuming, tedious, and the technical difficulties we had in the late stage, the game continued smoothly. But I won't play it again either. :)

Good relief that it actually ended. I'll probably start MIC2 soon. :D

EDIT: final score 15363.

The replay took half an hour to complete.

Yes, thank you Skyfish :) I thought the map worked well for the game.

On the map:
One interesting thing was having a city in the first ring on another continent. I think there was a predjudice against the ex-korean cities due to the assumption that cities on another land mass must be further away and therefore corrupt and less important. I know I was suprised on more than one occasion at how uncorrupt some cities were. They also in general seemed to be missing or slow to build the buildings that I feel core cities should have, so I don't think I was the only one who had this predjudice.

I started a thread in the general discussion on the "wrapped time". I think Sir Pleb has correctly figured out the formula for when the time becomes negative. I have been tracking down the save before his predicted time that is closest and have found a 595 hour save (the predicted turnover time is between 596 and 597 hours.

Congradulations!!!
:worship: :worship: :worship:

I found this thread when you were at the end of the middle ages and read the whole thing up till then. Since then, I have been lurking here and reading your reports. I just have to say: marvelous game. I am happy that the lag got better and that the bug involving the crashes was worked around. This game must have taken a lot of patience and cunning. So once again, congradulations to all of you. Well done.
