In the conquest Age of Discovery, to produce treasure units, you hook up one of the resources. If you have gold within the radius of 2 cities, can each produce treasure to go back to the captial? Or do you need to found cities with different resources in the New World instead?I am just wondering on the stragey for where to found my cities. and northern Brazil and the Carribean look the most promising.

Within the city radius of two cities? Well, you still have to build the gold mine (comes with the mining advance)... I think you can build the gold mine in both cities (it's a city improvement). Remember that you have to 'load' the treasure on a military unit.
City placement: don't bother the first time. The AI will probably drop his cities where you wanted to build anyway... And I don't want to spoil too much
Try the southeast of the US, there's a lot of tobacco (only available with 'colonization') and you can pick on the aztecs. The aztecs are weak, just as the iroquis. The other indians can be pretty mean.
