When I saw this slide I started thinking about why does the suspension of disbelief come easier to me when thinking of Augustus leading Rome into a French Empire, than the idea of starting as Napoleon leading Rome. And I think I feel like that for any Ancient Era leader.
Then I started to consider the wider implications. Consider this: Elizabeth can no longer say, for instance, Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England, because there might be no England.
I think there's three possible scenarios:
1. The leader lines are fixed, and so you get Elizabeth mentioning England in the Ancient era and throughout the game, regardless of whether England even ends up in that game. This sounds too jarring to be the case;
2. The lines are generic and related to the leader personality, but with no mentions to the culture they come from. So Elizabeth never mentions England, Napoleon never mentions France, etc;
3. Specific lines related to the leader's culture only trigger when/if you play that culture. So Elizabeth might say "Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England?" only when you're leading England as Elizabeth.
Thoughts?
