Just started a deity game. The Babs came for me unprovoked right away! After 23 turns! I had produced by then: 4 warriors, 1 settler - that means that I haven`t even had as many units as they got from the start.

I restarted, did the same moves, tried talking to them, trading and so on - all to no avail!

I`m attaching zip-Files with saves from the beginning to the end.....

Anybody seen that, too?????

I thought the AI had an inbuilt "agression check" that kept it from doing that, since that would means the human player has zero chance.... obviously, it doesn`t.....

Can someone please try to download and tell me if it works - I`ve had some trouble uploading.

I haven't seen that kind of aggression yet... I only play at Monarch though.

BTW, I downloaded the files, so they were attached correctly.

Yeah, I've learned that on Deity, the AI not only starts with some extra units, it also builds and grows twice as fast as you (all units are half-priced and takes half the food to grow). You are usually in real bad shape if you start with a luxury! If the AI knows you have a luxury or resource it will want it. My first game I lucked out and had a couple of luxuries but wasn't attacked right away, but every game I've played after that on Deity, if I have a luxury I will get attacked very quickly. You might have horses and iron and not know it because you don't have the tech, but the AI has those techs and sees it your territory.

What I do on Deity is set my tech rate to 0% and buy the techs, so make contact with the other civ quickly and maybe bribe them by giving them 1 gold per turn as a goodwill gesture to the agressive civs so they might not attack you. (But that doesn't even work all the time, they still attack!)

the really weird thing is, that when an early wip-out really makes sense (tiny map, 16 civ - everyone has 1 or 2 cities so you just kill the guy off and have no flipn risk), then the AI never does it. I must have played over 20 games like that; always I amassed Immortals and then went to war, rarely did someone threaten me before I had Iron (always go straight for that for obvious reasons). Lux or Res don`t seem to matter..... Is there any understanding the AI???

If they AI was too predictable that would make them much easier to beat. They needed to leave some random factor to make every game different and to make it harder. It's not very fun when every game is the same eh??
