I've played a number of deity games and all the AIs seem to inevitably end up choosing Fascism. I usually go the Republic > Democracy route. Is this a feature of deity? That the AI will always choose a different form of government? If so, why never Communism? In my last three deity games (all epic) every single AI (6+) chose Fascism. Even in earlier eras, there seem to be only a couple that go Republic, with the vast majority going with the other routes. But they inevitably end up with Fascism. My preferred victory path is culture, does that have any bearing?

Thank you!

I also noticed that, but i never played higher than emperor. And i never saw AI to choose republic, merchant republic (maybe once), and democracy. Yes, in most cases it's fascism.

on King, the AI always picks Fascism, yeah. I've seen Merchant Republic a few times (well once that I can think of, but I usually don't pay attention to that). Democracy and Communism though? never.

It has no bearing on what victory condition you are going for. No matter what, every AI will be fascism (or a tier 2 or 1 gov lol).

AI sucks at combat, and already cheats at production. So fascism makes sense.

And yea I don't even see the AI reach t3 in most of my games. ;;

Not only on Deity...

I am pretty sure IF they ever release the dll code, that we will see very poor coding in some (many?) areas of the AI, even with incomplete/unfinished blocks of code... it happened already in the case of civ 5, but I suspect it got even worse with civ 6.

You're probably right, I heard similar stuff from modders, too. I believe they found out that the civ5 AI was unable to do gold purchases at all - just to give an example of the massive gaps in the AI code :cringe:

I know, I have seen them, and the coding "style", which Gazebo likes to call "spaghetti code"...

I've seen all three. Fascism is most common. They almost never go communism. I wonder if it has something to do with which inspiration is the easiest for them to get. They build a lot of encampments so fascism makes sense.

They will.

I mean, why would they not release it?

Well, a little diving into subjective, pseudo-psycho reading and a table spoon of conspiracy theory, would allow me to build a case for something like this: seeing how basically Gazebo and Ilteroi put them to shame with Vox Populi, plus all of us willing and able to read parts or all of the dll code seeing clearly the big holes (literally) in their "spaghetti code" (TM Gazebo), I can see the incentive not to release the dll. That incentive gets only compounded when they see that the majority of the market seems to be at least "accepting" of the current state of the AI, if not directly in favor of it.

In such a subjective interpretation, it's easy to understand why they wouldn't feel like giving us the dll.

The AI is always picking Fascism in my games, it's the new monarchy. Unfortunate that these things occurs. Part of the fun with civ is to see how the story unfolds and is made, but my late game is always about my lonely Democracy in a world of fascist governments. No variation in what I and the AI pick. :crazyeye:

Thanks for everyone's reply. I just can't figure why it seems the AI is always on the back burner for them. I'm all for the surface improvements, but I'd much prefer they put more into the deeper stuff. Or at least release it so the community coding wizards can work their magic. I'd really like to play online with humans, but it's just too much time for me.
