AI AutoPlay 6 - Deity - Pick the Winning Leader!

Welcome back to the sixth game of the AI AutoPlay Deity - Pick the Winning Leader! competition.

This time the Fractal mapscript gave us a 6-6-1 spread of Leaders on two continents, with one inhabitated and two uninhabitated islands.

Elizabeth is isolated on the North Central Island, just one tile too far west of the Eastern Continent to be able to make early contact by boat.

In the East we find Asoka, Augustus Caesar, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Pacal II and Tokugawa.

On the Western Continent we have Brennus, De Gaulle, Hammurabi, Isabella, Wang Kon and Willem van Oranje.

How will this play out? Will one continent take the tech-lead? Can Elizabeth find a way out of isolation? Who will profit from war? Who will profit from peace? In short... when will the world end (in victory)?

The only one to choose Willem van Oranje was...

    Spoiler Honourable Mentions :

    Spoiler Eliminations :

As (now) usual, I have calculated how well you figured out how many and who of the leaders got eliminated. Here are the top three of the list...

    Major Tom - 72.92
    lymond ----- 56.25
    Zhary ------- 43.75

    The eliminated were:
    AD 640 - Hammurabi, AD 745 - Pacal II, AD 1160 - Isabella, AD 1734 - De Gaulle
    AD 1744 - Genghis Khan, AD 1750 - Brennus, AD 1857 - Augustus C, AD 1865 - Tokugawa

C1 - Nobody mentioned Genghis Khan, or a Great General here...
C2 - Nobody had Augustus. But dmd175, lymond and Packers5280 had Stonehenge.
C3 - Nobody had Genghis Khan on Augustus as first war.
    C4
dmd175 were spot on with Asoka, but gave Wang Kon the wrong religion.
enKage switched religions between Brennus and Asoka.
Zhary switched religions between Asoka and Wang Kon.
Packers5280 had Brennus correctly with Hinduism.
lymond gave Brennus the wrong religion.
C5 - Nobody had Brennus for circumnavigation.
C6 - lymond had Tokugawa as first to Liberalism!
C7 - Nobody had Asoka, or Taj Mahal, on the first Golden Age.

    Spoiler THE COMPETITION :

    A - Used to determine competition winner(s)!
    Name the winning leader! [A1]
(the victory condition [A2] and winning date [A3] optional, but highly recommended!)

Competition winner(s) will be declared after considering A1, A2 and A3, respectively.

    # if two participants have the correct leader, but only the second one has chosen condition and/or date, the latter will be declared competition winner (with the former 2nd placed).

*Winning date can be a period. But of course; the narrower the period, the better the reputation of the ones to get it right!

    PS!
You are NOT allowed to chose more than ONE leader. But you can of course comment on your own choice by mentioning other possible scenarios and winning leaders, as long as you make it clear whom your final choice IS! Posters choosing more than one leader, will be disqualified!

B - Civ IV Expert credits given here...
Name the useless! [Bn] (date(s) of elimination optional)
(those leaders who get themselves eliminated - if any (I won't tell just yet!))

C - Just for fun (you need luck here...)
    Who...
...gets the first Great Person [C1] (date and type optional)
...builds the first World Wonder [C2] (date and wonder optional)
...makes the first Declaration of War [C3] (date and defender optional)
...founds the early religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism) [C4a-c] (dates optional)
...proves the world is round [C5] (date optional)
...wins the race towards Liberalism [C6] (date optional)
...enters the first Golden Age [C7] (date and method [Taj or GP] optional)

*of course, if the game ends before some of these things happen, and you say so, you will be credited under "honourable mentions"! But it is more likely that all of these will happen before a Victory Condition is reached.

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND and want to change your choices, you are allowed to do so before the deadline passes. But you MUST edit your first post. After the competition deadline has arrived, the posts will be examined in chronological order. If multiple posts exists, by the same user, only the FIRST post containing A1 (optionally A2 and A3) will be allowed to enter the competition.
Posts NOT containing A1, will be disqualified from the competition.

AI AutoPlay League of Leaders 6

    A World's History
    - the brief version -
    (World #6)

Part One - Beginnings (4000 BC to 1900 BC)
    Spoiler Part One :

In 3775 BC De Gaulle became the last leader to found a second city. Asoka founded Buddhism in 3700 BC at Bombay. And converts the following turn, naturally. A hundred years later Vienne is the cradle of Hinduism, and as Asoka before him - Brennus also converts to his newly discovered faith at once.

3525 BC sees Elizabeth become the first leader to introduce slavery into her empire. 3225 BC is the year Tokugawa becomes the first leader to found his third city. In Antium, Augustus Caesar finished Stonehenge at 3000 BC.

Wang Kon is the third leader to find a faith of his own as the citizens of P'yongyang finds Judaism in their midst in 2775 BC. As the others before him, Wang Kon also converts to his own new-found faith.

Delhi sees the first of many, many wonders as The Great Wall stands erect in 2650 BC. Asoka can be happy no barbarians will ever threaten his cities again.

2550 BC is the year Wang Kon is the first to adopt organized religion. Pacal II can enjoy the wisdom of his Oracle at Mutal from 2050 BC. The same year the people of Chichen Itza has accepted Confucianism into their city. And I thought there were only supposed to be three(!) early religions! In this game we now have four...

Pacal II becomes the first to adopt Caste System at 2025 BC. At 2000 BC he makes Confucianism his state religion.

At 1900 BC Genghis Khan becomes the first leader to go to war, as he declares his intentions towards Augustus Caesar. First blood is drawn on the eastern continent, then.

Part Two - The Wars That Leads To The End (1900 BC to AD 1350)
    Spoiler Part Two :

Genghis Khan declared on Augustus Caesar in 1900 BC. The war lasted for 2 390 years, until peace was agreed in 490 (that is, AD 490!). The attacker razed on of the Roman cities, but Augustus captured one of the Mongolian ones. The world's first war happened in the east.

Brennus became the second to declare war, and the first in the west, as he attacked Hammurabi in 1675 BC. Peace never happened. The war was constant until the destruction of the Babylonian Empire at 640, 2 315 years later. All Brennus had to show for it was one captured city.

More wars were declared, but not many were of importance. The first declaration that was to be known as a "real" war was the Willem van Oranje declaration on Hammurabi in 1150 BC. Willem took three cities, the last one being Babylon itself in 640. And that was the last we heard of Hammurabi this time.

    Spoiler Babylon Gone :
    " align="" border="0" />

In the east, Julius Caesar declared on Pacal II in 875 BC. Six cities captured, and 1 620 years later, in 745 the Maya Empire had fallen to be no more.

Back in the west De Gaulle wanted the Spanish cities, so he declared on Isabella in 355. In 1160 the Spanish Empire was no more, and De Gaulle had taken Spanish cities seven times.

In 805 Julius Caesar declared on Augustus Caesar. The latter was eliminated in 1857, after a constant state of war with Julius.

In the west both Willem van Oranje and De Gaulle had success in their wars. In the east, however, Julius Caesar met an opponent he just couldn't figure out. He declared on Tokugawa for the first time in 1130. Peace was agreed in 1585, after Tokugawa had taken three of Julius' cities. In 1645 the Roman emperor tried again. This time peace with Japan was agreed in 1790 after both empires had taken one city each. Third time he tried was in 1820. This time the Japanese went down in 1865, but not because of Julius. By then, Willem had taken an interest in the east as well...

...oh, but we are ahead of ourselves now...

What else had happened in the world up until 1350? Well, for one thing: Nebuchadrezzar II, the Great General, had been born in Karakorum, 1625 BC. The first great person to make a mark in the history of this world.

Christianity was founded in The Hague, 1200 BC, by Willem van Oranje. Tokugawa completed The Apostolic Palace in 155 BC to gather the Buddhist faithful under the control of one world-wide organization.

Islam is founded by Tokugawa in Satsuma, AD 100. In 235 Asoka becomes the first leader to enter a golde age as his people marvels at The Taj Mahal in Vijayanagara! Brennus is the leader that proves the world to be round in 445. Tokugawa (!) is the first to discover liberalism in 670.

Part Three - The Big Western War! (AD 1350 - AD 1734):
    Spoiler Part Three :

In 1350, the war that decided the fate of the world was declared. Willem van Oranje attacked De Gaulle in the west. The winner of this face-off would stand a good chance to take home the glory this time. Especially since Julius Caesar didn't figure out how to eliminate Tokugawa in the east.

Spoiler The Big Western War :
    " align="" border="0" />

After 384 years of war, De Gaulle had lost. Netherlands covered most of the western continent, and Willem was in no danger of elimination now. Would he turn his eyes towards the stars, or keep pushing on to dominate the world?

    Spoiler De Gaulle Eliminated :
    " align="" border="0" />

Part Four - Space Or Domination? (AD 1734 - AD 1870):
    Spoiler Part Four :

Julius Caesar was no threat against Willem now. But another challenger arose in the east, that could've ruined the Dutch victory! Asoka of India were close to challenge Willem in the Space Race...
    Spoiler The Space Race :
    " align="" border="0" />

When it was all said and done, Willem won a Domination victory. However, he was really close to a Spacerace victory as well, since he launched with only one engine built. Estimated time of arrival was AD 1872, two years after he reached domination.

Asoka were close, but had not built SS Cockpit or an Engine. So the Indians had not even gotten to a point where they could launch.

Tokugawa came close to survival. A mere five years (!) before the end he saw elimination. That's one harsh fate...

And the only reason Wang Kon survived to grab two poinst in the League of Leaders-table, was his stubborn undercover Spy in Brighton.

Spoiler Korean Spy in Brighton :

Spoiler Religions of the World :

My best guess, without reading your post dutch, was De Gaulle winning by space in 1852. Kind of boring to follow with the same guess, but he was a great start, plenty of room, and manageable neighbors. Plus, if I would have to choose someone else I would not know who to choose.

    poor Liz.....

The only possible contact with Asoka and after Asoka's death noone to trade with :]

    Western continent

Willem and Hammurabi has the best starting position, followed by frenchman. Wang Kon has no chances, so does Brennus. How will Isa do, depends on religion distribution. This continent will need a long time to stabilize: Isa, Brennus, Wang = all start with misticysm. If one religion suceeds over others, than we have a winner on this continent - Willem or DeGaull or Hammi

    Eastern continent

3 bad guys, 2 neutral, 1 good - this doesnt sound good to Asoka. If Asoka manages to get a religion and spread it to both Romans before Pacal does, he can survive.
Pacal and Toku has the best start, Tokus isolationism will not be so visible as he has quite a lot of bad guys nearby (so opens borders)+ Pacal possibly on his side as a great techer.

This game is all about religion: if we have all on west, then we have a problem - a lot of wars but it also means east would be backward.

The key problem is to guess early religions - after this predictions will come easier.

    My shots:

Winner: HAMMURABI!! (1 space 1850 2 domi 1920 3. diplo 1860) if Willem doesnot achieve space earlier
    Runners-up Pacal, Genghis, Willem
    Useless: Asoka (700AD)

    Who...
...gets the first Great Person [C1] (date and type optional) DeGaulle, Prophet
...builds the first World Wonder [C2] (date and wonder optional)
    Asoka GWall
    other early:
    Isa Orcale
    Augustus GLH
    DeGaulle Stonehenge
    Pacal ToA, Mids

...makes the first Declaration of War [C3] (date and defender optional)
Toku on Asoka 300BC or Brennus on Isabella 100AD. After some thinking rather Brennus on Isa, than Hammurabi will take advantage of it :p
...founds the early religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism) [C4a-c] (dates optional)
    Buddhism - Brennus
    Hinduism - Asoka
    Monotheism- Pacal?
    Confu = Liz
    Theo - Isa
    Islam- Pacal

...proves the world is round [C5] (date optional) DeGaulle
...wins the race towards Liberalism [C6] (date optional)Willem
...enters the first Golden Age [C7] (date and method [Taj or GP] optional) DeGaulle,GPerson

    B: dates of elimination
    -Asoka: 100 BC
    -Wang: 100 AD
    -Pacal: 800 AD
    -Izzy: 1450 AD

    C1: Asoka, GP, 2200 BC
    C2: Asoka, Stonehenge, 3200 BC
C3: JC on Asoka, 1100 BC
    C4:
    -a: Buddhism, Asoka, 3600 BC
-b: Hindu, Wang Kong, 3520 BC
    -c: Judaism, Izzy, 2000 BC
    C5: Elizabeth, 1325 AD
    C6: DeGaulle, 1440 AD
    C7: Elizabeth, GS, 700 BC

The Romans will assimilate Pacal and Asoka, and JC (>AC) may grow large if Toku remains isolationist and Genghis doesn't cause problems. However, Genghis has horses and this will be a thorn in the side of the Romans, who likely will fight each other. So the East will be characterized by war after the Asoka/Pacal subdued, and JC is in best position to be largest there, but likely not a tech leader.
In the West, DeGaulle has double gold and room to expand; Hammy and Brennus will probably mix it up and/or prey on Izzy/Willem. If Willem survives early (expands south, takes Izzy) he could do ok. There probably will be competing religions on the West. DeGaulle gets spoils of northern conflicts and subsumes/vassals Wang. DeGaulle builds a lot of units and wonders, but not sure how he does in the mid-late game, he may overexpand and I could see Hammy or Willem challenging him with enough time. So I think DeGaulle is a great pick given start and land (like the other posters, but because of them I will pick someone different).

Well thoughts posted above. DeGaulle is strong but a slow starter before entering the ring. William is a tad better imo. On the other continent Julius will benefit from friendly and/or easy neighbours exept for his grandson.

Domination win might be hard with two equal sized continents.

I vote Julius for spacerace win 1830.
Eliminated: Hammurabi, Brennus, Isabella, Asoka, Tokugawa and Genghis.

    Other stuff:
    Pacal first wonder.
    Isabella DoW first.
    William for Lib.
Elizabeth should for her own sake get optics fast and sail around the world first.

Ha..this is kind bizarre but I'm going with the hapless Toku with a 1875AD space win. I know I know. (I kind had a hunch on Lizzy going for a culture win, especially since she is left along for a long time, but her imbalanced isolation will keep her behind for some time.)

I think Willie has to be first to circum because of his tech priorities.
    Wang get first wonder..Stonehenge.
    Lizzy with first GP
    Toku wins lib
Asoka, Pacal, Genghis Khan and Brennus are eliminated.

DeGaulle has a nice start, but tends to be an ineffective AI. Izzies religion might make most of the continent fairly peaceful, although some of that depends on what Brennus and Wang do. But if goes as expected, I think Iz gets most in her religion, Brennus founds Judaism and everyone piles on him. No one will like Asoka on the other continent.

    My guess:
East: Gk attaks toku without succes and AC join the war to finally eliminate both. JC start with Asoka and then attak Pacal but then AC saves him and take half of JC land at the same time. JC will then take out Lizzy.

    West:
De Gaul starts with eliminating WK. But he then addopt buddism because WK found it. This will make Lizzy mad and they start a war for millia without winner. Will adopt izzys religion and it will save him from Hammy. After he have made peace Hammy adopt Izzys religion and he instead attak Brennus.

Finally AC will have the most land and science to win a space race.

Julius Caesar is the clear winner. He starts with a lot of land and has Iron, so I say he wins 1850 AD. Not sure how though, probably Space Colony, but from his starting position, anything is possible. I doubt that it's gonna be Domination though, because there are too many friendly bad guys around him, so 1850 Space Colony.

I thought about Augustus, but he starts too near to the jungle, and Asoka won't stand a chance on that continent with all the low peaceweight AIs. De Gaulle has an awesome start, but everytime I play against him, he's the slowest of all AIs, so I don't think he'll win, but he would be my 2nd guess probably.

 You may think so... :D

But, no. In fact, tomorrow I'll visit my parents (I do that a couple of times a month). And as it is cup-final weekend, I don't know when I will be able to return home. So, I'm not certain if I get the time to update this on Sunday.

I'm working on the game report right now, but I am not finished. And in a couple of hours I need to go to bed (don't want to fall asleep if/when Molde FK scores/wins tomorrow..) ;)

    Yours Sincerely
    Kjotleik of Norway :)

Congratulations on being better than odd, even if it means delaying the results. Have fun, in moderation.

    Hello...

The game report is in, and the winner (singular) is revealed.

Look at posts one and two...

    Yours Sincerely
