I'm currently playing a game that's in the modern age. In the outskirts of one of the AI Civ countries, I have a colony. Not so long ago, a barbarian camp appeared on the map in a nearby region of the same continent. How do I know this? Well, the AI Civ in question decided to send a Modern Armour unit to take it out.

BUT

Not just one group of tanks, but 25!!! Is the AI player paranoid or what??? I mean, what's a lone Barbarian Warrior gonna do to just one Modern Armour???

(Unless, of course, they're aware of the Spearman incident...)

I just thought this was ridiculous, in an amusing way.

I think, that the AI doesn't plan large or small attacks. When they have a unit that needs order they decide what is best for that unit to do. In this case, go take care of a hostile, then when the next unit needs order the AI goes through the same train of thought. Without ever considering that it already sent 3 MA to the same hostile.

I am not even sure if the AI knows it's only a worriar and not a tank or something.

The AI do this with the human player, too. That's how you can bait them out to the middle of nowhere while you raze their cities.

An example

You should probably read through the whole thread, it's pretty good.

Umm, every time the AI massed near my country, it ended up with a war

Sounds like that would be a perfect opportunity for you to unleash your massive stack of death to wipe out their cities.

And of course, bomb the living daylights out of that armoured column. :yeah:

I have seen paranoia in the AI. I was playing a game where I just romped through all my opponents with knights and then cavalry. Anytime I got near a surviving AI border they moved stacks to cover their workers and resources. Its the only time I have seen them that edgy.

they actually defend there workers? wow i didnt realise that the AI actually shipped units out unless ur at war.
