I always play with random personalities. Makes the game more interesting, I think.

Anyone with Monty is a hoot. Once saw him march an army of redcoats through my territory to get at Mansa - who had panzers. That crazy sob cracks me up.

He's so terrible. If you can survive him early when he's massing units at relatively tech parity, he's a joke later. Yes, he'll have like 40 knights or something. But you'll have infantry. Ghandi/mansa are the same thing in reverse. I like these unbalanced personalities but they make the game alot easier than it would be otherwise.
