I've lost it. Ai Trade has driven me insane!!!:aargh:

I found an island in one of my games with only two countires on it. In orderto get some goodies from one of them I traded one communications with one of the seven contries I knew. Also the two countries were totally backwards in techs. I had gotten near to the Idustreil age and they just entered the med. age. Next thing I know, one turn later, both countries have up to date tech trees and know everyone else. It just doesn't feel right!

Does any one have any good tips about AI trade (other than changing the settings in the game editor)?

Don't let it happen. When you traded communication you should immediately have made the rounds of all the civs you already knew and traded communication with the two new civs to them. You let the civs make the deals instead of taking charge of it yourself.

What goodies did you want? Try trading world maps instead. The AI usually pay well for these.

If you really must trade contact then, like willbill says, you should speak to all the AI on that turn, and trade as much as you can, or they will do a lot of trading themselves, as you have demonstrated to great effect.

The "goodies" are luxuries. Sorry for the confusion.

P.S. This is mine own little mod that I've been working on for a while now. So are they're any ways to change AI trade with moding other than changing the rate?

I think the lesson to be learned here is that do not trade/give away your communications to anyone unless you have nothing else to trade. Whenever possible, buy communication from the AIs but do not sell them yours. Always try to bankrupt them first before selling/giving away your communications. Also do constantly trade worldmap with the tech leaders so that other backwarded civs don't have much to bargain with.
