AI uses arty post-patch?

I was at war with the Egyptians, and it was mostly a temporary stalemate (we both had pikes and best attack was swordsman). I was launching a lot of catapult stones into the city i wanted to take, and suddenly the AI sent a catapult and a spearman into my land! Of course its a far cry from the 30+ artillery batteries that the human can use, but it is definately a start. Has anyone else seen the AI attack with arty? The Egyptians never actually got to use their catapult, because i took it from them , but they definately seemed to be heading for one of my cities with it.

Should have left it alone. Just to see what the AI would have done.

Yeah, I've seen this before (albeit not often). The AI has never attacked a city, but it likes to destroy improvements like crazy :crazyeyes . Sometimes there are groups of 2-3 bombard/defender pairs running about the fringes of my lands, but they are fairly easy to deal with most of the time. Heck, they can be downright annoying though!
