    Soooooo....

I'm not saying this plane wasn't shot down.

I will say that distinguishing between the debris field from a plane that is shot down and a plane that is brought down by a bomb on board isn't really easy, and has almost certainly not yet been done.

Distinguishing between the debris field of a plane that is shot down and the debris field produced by some mechanical failures is also not done instantaneously. Fair bet this hasn't been done when the same news source is saying that 'some locals have reported that yes there is wreckage' as the sum total of investigation done thus far.

Over a hundred of the people on board were AIDS researchers, activists, health workers etc en route to the 20th International AIDS Conference in Melbourne.

Shot down a jumbo jet full of people?

    What on earth for?

    Here's the SAM reportedly used:

Mmm, looks like there will be consequences.

    Serious consequences.

There are dozens of conspiracy theories about this incident already.

Yeah it's gone from zero to false flag conspiracy theory in record time even for Eastern Europe.

The hastily deleted social media evidence thus far presented seems pretty clear that some rebels shot it down thinking it was something else.

There were two Ukrainian fighters behind the plane.

    Also this:

And somehow the authorities changed the course of the plane to go throw the conflict zone.

The ones which need NATO intervention, for example.

Okay, who authorised civilian flight over a lawless region known for trigger-happy rebels with a history of shooting down aircrafts?

The FAA issued a warning, so US based airlines have been avoiding the area, but the comparable international organization has not...well, I think they have now but they had not at the time. Some airlines also bypassed the region on their own initiative, but apparently Malaysia Air didn't think to do so.

Wait, didn't that jumbo jet that crashed in the ocean a few months back belong to Malaysia Airlines?

The corridor was regarded as safe by European and Ukrainian air traffic control but some airlines, such as Qantas, had been avoiding it for two months. A Singapore Airlines flight was heading through the same corridor too.

One of the recent reddit posts that stuck with me was on the Holocaust. It was an AMA by a grandfather from Germany. He mentioned that one of the most important lessons of the Holocaust is that the people who perpetuated those crimes are not a different breed of humans but are actual people who are like you and me.

Most of the elites across the world also probably wouldn't give these 200 deaths much of a thought. To them the incident is either an opportunity (for non-Russians) or an inconvenience to shrug away (for Russians). It's all a game.

So what is definitively known at this point? Can the tapes provided by the Ukrainian government be verified?

I read this as thousands of CNN executives' nipples exploding with delight.

It was regarded as safe, because rebels don't often shoot at plans at heihts over 10 km.

But flights from Europe to Asia have little ffreedom here.Unlss they can go over north of Russia, they have to go either through Afganistan, Caliphate or New Russia.
